Lac Rougeaud — Attraction in Mont-Blanc

Wonderfully quiet lake with no motorboats. Good for a pedalo, canoe, or swim. All privately owned homes, no public access allowed. The only downside are the short-term rental homes at one end. Always noisy drunken parties and fireworks. Most renters leave beer can in the lake and garbage around. One even lost their life boating drunk one year. Police...

I’m utterly biased - I co-own one of the Mountain Acres lodges here, but that aside this is one of my “Happy Places” on the planet. To walk the lakeside in all the different seasons is really special, and Christmas at the lodge is the stuff of dreams - fireplace, snow, movies, big family meals and fantastic views across the lake.
