Pipers Lagoon Park is a great place to relax for all ages! The lagoon is protected from the strong waves, allowing children to swim and play to their heart's content. It's also large enough that you could kayak or paddle board in it. In the other side of the lagoon is a beach laden with pebbles and sand, great for beach party, picnic, bbq, and easy access for a quick dip in the water. The water line is maybe 10-20 meters from the trail which is between the lagoon and the beach. It's also a long Beach so feel free to spread out! There's plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Look out into horizon and watch the ferries, the cruise liners, the float planes, and the mountain peaks all in the distance. Go for a walk if you want to as well! When you're done, feel free to rinse your legs off with the public rinsing faucets then hop into your car! Medium sized parking lot that can accommodate most general crowds (likely too small to accommodate the summer...
Read moreA Very Highly rated Attraction. This more compact Park (than its "neighbour") highlights the "ground level" view of the Page Lagoon [with its tidal flows]... as well as the Oceanside features including the pebble beaches, huge driftwood logs, places to sit and "experience"/enjoy the wildlife [birds and Marine Mammals] as well as the ships and Ferries departing from Nanaimo's busy Port. The comfortable benches allow one to take the time to absorb the many outstanding Natural features. If one is at the Lagoon at "low tide" one can walk from one side of the lagoon to the other (but be careful and make sure that you know when the tide changes!! This Park is very highly rated (by travellers like us) and has been awarded TripAdvisor's "Certificate of Merit". While visiting Neck Point Park.. it can be easily reached.

This path that is between the lagoon area and the exposed beach carries on and leads to a variety of trails to explore. If you're able to climb a bit to crest the rocks at the end of the initial easy and accessible pathway, you will find a well worn main path that takes you on a short hike around the rock that has many beautiful and interesting views of the surrounding ocean, lagoon area and the historical "Shack Island". Be prepared for protuding roots and rocks on the trails, once you reach the end of the initial walkway and crest the rocks...
