As an avid Anne of Green Gables fan, being able to visit the birthplace of L.M. Montgomery was surreal. The entire building is preserved in time and standing and is such an amazing way to get a glimpse of the past and life of such an amazing Canadian author.
There are several interesting things to discover about her life at the birthplace including the room where she was born, several book excerpts, and her wedding dress.
There is also a section at the front of the home where you can purchase some of her books and other Anne of Green Gables merchandise and Knick knacks.

Read moreLoved it. I brought my wife and children here a few years ago. Its literally around the corner from my mother's childhood home. Her name was Earith Dunning. We all signed the guest registry.
Apparently, the staff member on duty that day recognized my surname in the guest registry as the surname that my mom took once she married my dad. The staff member was a cousin of my mom's! She contacted my mom that night and shared the fact that we had visited the LMC homestead that afternoon!
I love PEI. It was a very pleasant experience.
UPDATE My mother passed away last year, so my brother and I travelled to the Island again to bury her remains at the Geddes Memorial Cemetery.

Read moreI visited this little museum with my mother, husband and 4 children. The hosts at the front were very pleasant and welcoming. The woman gave a lovely history of the author and the house. The young girl, summer student maybe, seemed a little unsure but was nice. While all of my children's many, many questions were being patiently answered by the older woman, the young girl showed my mother a video of the bedrooms because she was unable to climb the stairs to see the rooms herself.
