Uplands Park is a hidden natural treasure in Oak Bay that offers a rich, immersive experience in one of Victoria's most pristine ecosystems. This expansive park is a haven for nature lovers, filled with unique wildlife and incredible views that change with the seasons.
The park is teeming with wildlife, including birds like sparrows, hawks, and woodpeckers. On lucky days, you may also encounter deer roaming through the wildflowers and a glimpse of owls hiding in the trees. The park's rocky outcrops and Garry oak meadows provide a perfect habitat for native plants and wildflowers, which bloom beautifully in spring and summer, attracting butterflies and bees.
Benches are thoughtfully scattered throughout the park, allowing visitors to pause and enjoy the serene surroundings. The park has no water features, but its natural beauty more than makes up for it. You’ll be captivated by the panoramic views of the ocean, with the distant Olympic Mountains visible on clear days. The birds chirping leaves rustling, and the gentle breeze provides a soothing backdrop as you explore the winding trails.
