The amazing Birdhouse City is a miniature community of whimsical hand-crafted birdhouses depicting the unique character, culture, and history of Prince Edward County. Each birdhouse rests high on its own platform and pole and provides a safe place for birds to nest in. Located at the Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area just outside of Picton, the City offers a one-of-a-kind, outdoor experience for people of all ages. I especially loved the Mustang Drive-In which is playing “The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock! Paths are cut into the grass and the houses are about 12’ high. A tiny bit buggy. It is managed by volunteers in partnership with Quinte Conservation. Allow a minimum of 20 minutes for your visit. The site is a couple acres. It is said there are over 100 charming birdhouses! Parking (paid) is available on site, but I recommend a visit to the Macaulay Heritage park first. You can find the tombstone of William Pierce - Died Feb 31st !? And see the magnificent Georgian house. There is a FREE parking lot on the right of the house. Behind the small barn is a path through the forest which will lead you to Birdhouse City in under 15. It is extremely well-maintained and has benches. You can extend your visit to include a hike. Make sure you include this stop on your...

It is a unique outdoor art exhibit featuring over 100 birdhouses, each with its own distinctive design and theme. Visitors can learn about different bird species and their habitats while admiring the creativity and craftsmanship of the birdhouses.
Unfortunately, there is a drawback to this location, as the cost of paid parking is quite high, and the website seems to have some functionality issues. Despite our intention of only spending an hour or so there, the website repeatedly prompted us to pay for a minimum of three hours, which seemed...
Read moreHands down one of my favourite parts of my trip to Prince Edward County. It is an approximate 5 minute drive from Downtown Picton. The hand-crafted birdhouses are all adorable and I appreciated how they paid homage to Prince Edward County. The birdhouses are situated on a well maintained grassy hill. While there were other people walking through, it is a large enough walking path that you can pass people easily. It's fun walking through and hearing all of the birds communicating with each other. It's evident how much passion the volunteers have for maintaining the area. Highly recommend a visit if you're...
