For some reason I saw that my review from 2021 got deleted, so I reposted it. It took me over a week to recover after the rudeness I and my family have experienced at the Millar Berry Farms. We spent about 4 hours at the farm picking berries and purchased in overall for over $200 CAD that day. Honestly, I wanted to let it go and don’t leave feedback, but really wanted to warn you guys, and recommend you not to pick this farm for berry picking.
First, when we were at the cashier they tried to overcharge us for about $20 for berries! When I asked how much was a pint they changed the final price for the box of pints I was about to purchase.
Second, be aware, there is no wayfinding or notification system on the field or at the cashier, other than in the social network, but they are late with notifications there as well. → There was no notification of any kind that the raspberry picking was over for that day. Which leads me to the last and the most unpleasant moment of the whole day.
Third, the owner is VERY VERY rude!!! When nobody notified us at the cashier when I asked for a few additional boxes for berries, we were standing and picking the raspberries when the owner came and started screaming (literally speaking guys!) at us and telling us that they were saving those berries for tomorrow pick your own day. We apologized multiple times and tried to explain that nobody warned us when I asked for the boxes for berries, she continued screaming at us! I honestly felt like a robber and a schoolboy who is being reprimanded for a misdemeanor…. When I asked can I finish my pint of berries because there were plenty of already ripped berries, which will go bad by the next day, they refused and repeated to me multiple times: “You have to pay, have to PAY $7!”. I never refused to pay! She told me that we will be charged $1 for an unfinished pint. When we came to the cashier, the lady told us that the owner mentioned that we will have to pay the full price, even for an unfinished pint… We paid… But I would never come back to this place ever again. And warning all of you, if you don’t want to get your day rounded as ours - don’t go! Find another farm to go, there are plenty of them around...
Read moreTERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVIVE. I went in on a Monday, wanted to take my daughter apple picking before she started school. They have an enforced rule where every two people need a basket and it’s $20 per basket. I was strolling my newborn so couldn’t hold the extra basket and my toddler couldn’t carry a full basket either. Besides we didn’t need $40 worth of apples. We asked to speak to the boss, to see if they can just let us go in with one basket since we were the only customers there with an hour left until they closed. So the employee pages her through a walkie takie in front of my family, and the boss replied with “they can just read the rules” and did not want to speak with us. I reccomend apple land, only 20 mins away, admission and 10lbs of apples for myself and family was $27 not to mention my newborn was free to get it in. And plenty of things to do...
Read moreFor over twenty years, I would loyally pick my berries at Millars . I stopped for about ten years because when I would go, the overseers consistently assigned me and others the already picked over rows. Meanwhile, you could see the hired pickers effortless filling their baskets while you struggled to find a berry let alone pick one. After three years of this treatment, I stopped going. Upon seeing the favorable reviews, however, I will venture out and try my luck. And if it is the case of being assigned over picked rows, I will dust off my Russian language and sneak in amongst the...
