With this being a newer part of Sandbanks P.P, the absence of trees should be noted. And with many of the sites open to on lookers and walking paths that pass by about 20% of these non wooded sites. Also, with being new, the sites are still rather rocky, so you should have an outdoor mate. Tents are aloud on the sites, however, the pull thru sites do not offer much room for large tent set ups, that being said there are some sites in West Lake Campground that do have the room for larger tents. It is still a nice addition and right across the road from the Dunes Day Beach. The pull thru RV sites are also very helpful for people, such as myself, who are not talented in the area of backing up the RV, as of yet. Read moreI was skeptical at first as we couldn't get one of our regular sites in the wooded area. This is quite nice though. It's all new so the roads are paved. The washrooms are nice. And the water fill up and dumping area is nice and clean. The open sky is nice for seeing the sunsets and looking at the stars at night. Something you don't see in the wooded areas. Also seems to be less bugs with less forest around. The big downside is that there is no shade. So bring shelter. The sites are very big so any size trailer would fit. Dogs are allowed in West Lake Campground and are allowed in all other campgrounds. There are two dog friendly beach areas in the park but dogs are not allowed on Dunes Beach.
