This was my first time coming here with my girlfriend, her best friend and the best friend’s fiancé, and we heard a lot of good things about this camp-sight hence why we chose this for our little camping trip.
However things took a turn for the worst as the days went by. First of all I’d like to say, we were at a camp sight that was 40 feet away from the plug and our own extension cord wasn’t even long enough to reach. So, they ended up trying to upsell us on a longer cable for $200! Which was an abomination!
So we drove across town to Walmart to pick up a longer cord which retailed at $89 after tax. You’d think that these people would even offer up the same price for the convenience since it is a god damn camp ground and this trip took us a 8 hours drive nonetheless.
The public showers are gross, no maintenances what’s so ever. Same with the washrooms, absolutely disgusting. And then when we arrived at the beach, parking lot was full no parking what’s so ever. So we chose to park on the grass where NO PEDESTRIAN would dare get blocked from walking. And then next thing you know? This damn park ranger issued us a $30 parking ticket.
Like I’m sorry but what are suppose to do? Park in the middle of the road? LOL 🤣🤣
The grass was a better alternative and it we weren’t blocking anything. There were no signs or what’s so ever to indicate that we weren’t permitted to park. So when we brought it up to the registrations attention, they were aggressive and had a lot of attitude upon the issue that we had.
Like I’m sorry but if you guys can’t even handle constructive criticism's, then it’s on your best interest to quit being a stick in the mud about the complaints we make. We are here to camp, not clap cheeks and cause mischief.
Overall my experience has been more than terrible these past three days. I hope the management or higher ups read...
Read moreWe had went there August 5, 2018, and were treated very poorly by this beach and we will never return. This place is very racist and we could not even set up any of our things before we were asked to leave by the police & the park security for doing absolutely nothing wrong. The racist security who kicked us out was McLeoad who kicked us out purposely because we “allegedly”parked behind a paramedic vehicle that was not present in the area. Even if there was a paramedic vehicle it was not being used in an emergency because the lights were not being used to warn people there was an emergency. Many other vehicles that were unloading boats were parked beside it but we were the only ones to be evicted, we also got a ticket for $120 for parking almost 100 metres away to only unload our heavy luggage. We were all exhausted and were not given a warning before being evicted and the 7 kids were not able to eat anything. We drove there for 2 hours and we couldn’t even sit there for 30 minutes before they evicted us. We were told to leave the area within 30 minutes, we were threatened by this because she had called police to back her up. We were also travelling with an elderly woman (who is 75 years old) who was exhausted and couldn’t drink anything, which resulted her in fainting we had to take her to a hospital. She is still in the emergency . We were not treated fairly by this racist place and we will never forget this horrible experience. This is very disgusting how in Canada we were humiliated and treated like animals in front of 1000 people. We were not even talked to in private about this situation. I am 14 th years old. My sister is 9 years old. 4 of the kids are less than 10 years old. Our grandma is...
Read moreBass Lake Provincial Park is a great spot for a family camping trip. Located a short drive from Toronto, it is accessible from anywhere in the GTA.
The campground has a great beach, which the kids are able to wade out in and enjoy. At it's deepest it was only waist deep on our ten year old. There is also a playground located by the beach.
Canoe, kayak and paddle boards are available for rent. The lake does have private cottages and there are motor boats on the lake which can create some waves. Additionally, the lake is large and open allowing the wind to create some chop.
The park store had rather meager selections, however as it is only a 10 minute drive into Orillia this is not a huge concern. The washrooms were small and not in the best repair. However, they were serviceable.
All interactions with park staff were pleasant. Our site had a large tree branch logged in another tree. Staff were diligent about coming by and ensuring our safety and removing the branch.
Overall we had a pleasant time and...
