Wow - we love this place! Never a dull moment, with a brilliant museum piece, coupled with a vehicle garage that is SECOND TO NONE, and periodic tank warfare demonstration weekends, the Ontario Regiment Museum is our go-to for interactive, involving historical fun. If you have a family member who is interested in tanks, or mobile infantry history, this is the place to visit! For a nominal admission fee you’ll receive an afternoon of historic carefully curated adventure, incredible periodic displays of tank warfare, access to a gift shop with truly novel and interesting competitively-priced items, occasional ad-hoc surprises (as patrons of the museum), and the ability to participate in history by riding in M113 APCs (seriously - a must!!) (usually for a fee, but - if you time it right, see “ad-hoc surprises”)… the staff is friendly, informative and will go out of their way to assist you. The gift shop also has a great selection of Cobi plastic block model products (similar to and compatible with Lego, but modelling various tank and other military vehicles - one of only 3 retailers nation-wide to do so. Read moreAquino Tank Weekend was a blast! Every moment was thrilling, from reenactments (especially the WW2 one) to the M113 ride. I'm sure that I'll visit again, and buy a model kit. The thing is, I purchased a model M3 Lee for a mind-blowing $20, thinking that it would be easy to assemble. When I opened it, i could tell it was shabbily made. It was a poorly-adapted RC tank, as the switch and battery compartment were all still there. The 37mm was bent, flimsy, and tacky, and the rubber tracks were misshapen and cheap. That's before I looked deeper. As I started to assemble it, I noticed a huge mistake. The bogey attaches to the wheels by running the axle through a hole in the wheels. The thing is, on half the wheels, the holes were far too small! (not to mention, there were tiny plastic flakes, the kind that comes from poorly-formed plastic). I resorted to sitting in my garage for half an hour drilling proper sized holes and using an x-acto knife to shave off excess plastic! Talk about an "easy...
Read moreThe museum is on the small side but it has everything! A history of the regiment with uniforms and different guns used at different times even nurse’s uniforms and what their different jobs were during WW1-2 everything was featured there. It has tanks galore from 1 world war to today and even some other equipment that is used at the battlefield. We felt very lucky that our guide ( you can ask for the guides and they were at no additional cost) was the curator of the museum. He was so knowledgeable that even that we went there for our kids we ended up having questions for him. The place had some crew from a 🎥 movie that were filming. We would be going back again since my boys fell in love with those tanks. Update: Soooo we went again and saw a real tank battle outside museum.Did you know that the movie “Furi” with Brad Pitt had some of the tanks from...
