Beautiful park. I have frequented this park for the past few years and it is always a good place for a walk. I would give a 5 star rating but the geese ruin it for me. If you are walking anywhere near the water be cautious of the geese droppings that are everywhere. Also don't plan to sit directly on the grass near the water bring a chair or your behind will be a mess. Since the release of Pokémon Go the park is frequented by many players as there are multiple poke stops and a few gyms. The point where the light house is, is crowded with players on weekends as there are three stops and they are constantly lured. Great park, the only downside is the over population of geese and seagulls that are not shy of humans and make a mess everywhere. I would also recommend that if the parking lot near the splash pad area is full park in one of the other lots and walk. Do not park on the grass as bylaw frequents the area and you will...
Read moreHubby and I were at the park only because there was event that we had heard if. It was late evening and visibility was low. Despite the fact that we could not see much it was still a sight to behold. I took some photos of the amazing landscape. We will definitely be back in the day or early evening to get a better view. However evening is still very lovely.
We were surprised to see that there were many people like us out walking around and enjoying themselves—particularly dog walkers, families and people with strollers—as there are plenty of paths.
We were there to attend a swing dance event put in by the ottawa swing dance society in the pavilion on the water. I’ve included videos of the event, which is every Friday in the summer from 7-10 pm. A very friendly and...
Read moreThis remains, in my opinion, the most beautiful waterfront park in Ottawa. It is spacious with breathtaking views of the Ottawa River, large interior ponds, abundant grass and open space, a bandshell, BBQ stations, many benches, a long paved walking path and more. Its easy to find a private or semi private place to sit with friends or have a picnic. The only drawback is that the park is used b6 many ducks/Canada geese. While majestic to observe (with their goslings at this time of year), their droppings are all over the place and they are used to being fed by park visitors so aggressively beg for food. Yesterday, one mother goose appeared to be prodding a gosling to get closer to my group in order...
