I've been a proud member of the Nepean Sailing Club since 2023, and it has truly enriched my life. Nestled on the Ottawa River, the club offers beautiful views, a friendly community, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it a joy to return to again and again.
One of the best parts of being a member is participating in the weekly sailboat races every Tuesday and Thursday. Racing with a wonderful crew has been an incredible experience—full of excitement, teamwork, and learning. The sailing community here is passionate, inclusive, and always ready to lend a hand or share a story.
The facilities are solid, and the club offers a range of programs for sailors of all levels. Whether you’re new to sailing or a seasoned racer, you’ll find your place here. The social events, training opportunities, and waterfront amenities really round out the experience.
That said, there is still room for improvement when it comes to organization—especially around event logistics and communication. A bit more clarity and structure would go a long way in making the experience even better for everyone involved.
Overall, Nepean Sailing Club is a gem in Ottawa, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in sailing or simply enjoying life...
Read moreThe quality of service has declined significantly. Both administrative and restaurant staff have become increasingly rude and unhelpful, which seems to be a widespread issue now. The Admin's behavior toward us/members is completely unacceptable - bully, late/ignores, just plain rude and clearly does not want to be there. Despite reaching out to management and the board (politely and with objectivity), we've been ignored, which makes it difficult to recommend NSC over other local clubs. We pay just under $7000 a year in club fees, mooring, etc. and NSC doesn't work to earn it/deserve it at all... at the new club we feel like our money is well-spent with the facilities and service we receive there.
Many of my friends and acquaintances have left for similar reasons, and after exploring other local clubs, it's clear that other clubs offer better management, more attentive staff, and superior facilities. For the cost of membership and mooring fees at NSC, we expected better service and respect, and unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
In the end, we chose to leave for a club that values its members (not the NSC) and are happy with the decision...
