I had made a reservation for Friday evening for 2. We reserved for 5:15. It was a first dinner out in a month for myself and my friend, and so we had planned for a full evening at the winery. I was dropped off as I planned on having wine ... And too much to drive. When I arrived, I was advised that the winery had overbooked and that we could only have our table until 7:30. The rain was letting off, and so I enquired about the patio. I was first told it was booked up later in the evening, that they actually had to bring in more tables and chairs from their storage across the way, and then later told it could only be used in the covered area if the rain let off. By 7 it was beautiful and with covid 19... I would have preferred to sit outside. We asked several times for this option and close to our time being up, were told they could "let" us sit outside where we couldn't be seen. Not once did a manager come to speak to us. Our lovely waitress was extremely apologetic. The food was just okay. The experience was ruined from the moment I walked through the door. And as a result, both my friend and I have agreed that this will not be a place we will come back to. We weren't allowed on a patio with no rain, but were not adequately social distanced inside. I am highly disappointed. When we left, every single table on the patio remained empty, blue skies in sight. I would suggest the next time people are overbooked they are contacted (even though tables remained empty throughout our stay). And in the end, your server had to...
Read moreWe were introduced to Northern Lights Estate winery by a local friend who lives in Prince George. The winery is known for wine other than grape wines.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to dine at their restaurant or patio when we were there as it was outside of their service hours, it was also pouring rain on their patio. It would have been nice to relax and have lunch there though.
Due to the weather we were basically the only ones there, we were greeted promptly and requested for a complimentary wine tasting.
We basically tried most of the wine they produce, the most notable ones for me were the Seduction, the Ursa and Blueberry Port. The Seduction is their best selling wine, which I can see why, as you air it out in the wine glass you can smell the hit of strawberries. All of their wines were quite different from traditional wine, it has all the fruit notes, but less of the tannins.
Our sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable, walking us through each wine and making food pairing suggestions.
In the end we got 2 boxes of various wines as they aren’t very widely distributed. I believe you can get the Seduction wine at BC Liquor.
Will definitely stop by for another visit when we go to Prince...
Read moreMy family and I decided we would take a we trip to PG to visit this winery as my mother is getting married and was wanting to possibly have her wedding at the venue.
To our surprise it was the worst customer service we have experienced. We understand the shortage of staff but that is not an excuse. We spent more then 500$ for our bill and the server let us know that we don’t have an option for tipping as we had a larger group. Well one of those group members is 11 and shouldn’t have been included. I’m not sure why a forced tip is something you have, we shouldn’t be paying for a service we haven’t experienced. That’s just a bad business practice.
You would think that when going to a winery they would explain the different wines they offer and the notes you may taste not one single person new a single thing.
We had to hunt down servers to get more drinks, or to have the table cleared of old plates and cups, at one point a family member did it them selfs.
I highly recommend going else where for a winery experience. Also side not a few of us are on the monthly wine subscription and because of this will be...
