We camped here for 3 nights, and we ended up on a great lot that was larger than an average camp site. Staff at the front were somewhat friendly. Garabge was picked up everyday and the grounds were in clean condition. The water park was a huge hit, so many fun inflatables and my kids had a blast. The ice cream is delicious, and the grill was meh, over priced and nothing special. There's a small skate park that got a little busy at times, and some running into each other, but it was also a hit for my kids as well. They have a retired baseball diamond that is used as an off leash dog park and my dog enjoyed it. They had a pizza vending machine, but we didnt use it. The office is very limited in what you can buy there so don't have high expectations. Also, be mindful there are also day passes to the water park so it seems to get pretty busy on the weekends, we didnt mind tho it was still fun.
However, although we had a great time there were definitely some draw backs.
There's a train that runs through the property about 3-4 times a night. It lays on the horn approx 10 times. It woke me up the first night. I turned on the AC and automatic fan on all night after that to drain out the noise the next couple nights.
On the first day on our way to the lake, I was stopped by the "manager" to inform me I am not allowed to use my Paddle board because "we rent them here". I displayed how disappointed I was and told her I would find another lake to use it. Then she changed her tune a bit and advised me to talk to the life guards and if they were "okay with it" then I could use it. When I approached the life guards, they rolled their eyes, shook their head and said of course we could, everyone does. Almost like they knew where that was coming from. So that definitely left me feeling targeted. Sure enough, there were other people with paddle boards as well. I did approach someone (who happened to be a seasonal using their own as well) and never heard of such non-sense. They do rent paddle boards but they're probably older than my grandparents and ridiculously priced. On that note, the place is dated and could use some upgrades. However, rumor has it the park is for sale so nobody is dumping any money into it. In fact, it cost me $2.00 for each of my kids to do the crafts, which consisted of a paperbag, construction paper and scrounging for glue. I also went to take a shower, very dated and ick. That also takes loonies I didnt have on me. I think it was about $1.00 for 4 mins. It's rare you pay over $500 for 3 nights and still have to pay to shower. So, I went back to my trailer and showered there.
Overall, I would recommend as it was a fun time but definitely room for...
Read moreBased on my Sunday day visit to the waterpark.
It was very packed with a volleyball tournament taking place on the other side of the swimming area.
Parking was vast with much of it being just parking on the grass.
Multiple washrooms and a couple sinks. No water fountain. There is a feet washing station and change rooms.
There is a kiddie pool and some water fountains to play in.
There is a waterslide with a line that moves relatively quickly. It has it’s bends but nothing crazy.
There is about 4 volleyball sand courts closest to the entrance and more on the other side of the swimming area.
A food bar and area to rent the mandatory life jackets for the pond use. The rental itself is only 10$, however there is a security deposit of $40.
There is various picnic tables but many of them were stacked on each other, in one of two basketball courts.
The water in late June was cold at first but you become used it very quickly. Water seems very deep considering I could not see the bottom once I got off the beach area and entered the inflatable park and diving off the dive platform on the cliffs. The obstacles were fun but get old quickly. There is also a section of the inflatable park just for kids. Along with an area to use kayaks and stand up paddle boards.
Good place for the family considering they allow BBQing with at least two big ash pits.
Ultimately it’s a nice place to spend the day with the family, deep within the park, lowering risk of having unwanted in there. On a Sunday it cost 25$ after tax per person and 10$ for the life jacket rental for the entire day which seems to end around 7:30 PM.
Give it a try, you’ll likely enjoy it. Bring a ball, sunscreen, towel, BBQ, food, water and life jackets if you want to avoid...
