This is my favorite local place. A wonderful Hidden Gem in the middle of town which is a beautiful old growth forest saved by community members who didn't want it destroyed for more development.
Perfect for any age as there are short loops and you are never more than half a kilometer away from an exit ( if kids are afraid of getting lost) yet you still feel like you are in the deep forest.
There are trails that are high banks with a river flowing down below and also an open area where are you can relax and hang out and enjoy the flowers and scenery if you like.
If you were walking, be mindful that sometimes people come through on there trail bikes.
Always filled with birds, you can see flickers, hummingbirds, crows, Ravens and sometimes Eagles. And in the early spring often lots of red-headed Pileated woodpeckers.
Great place to relax, get grounded and connect...

Note: there are no washrooms or playgrounds here, and the parking is a pretty minimal step of dirt off the road. There's a big open field where you could have a lovely picnic, but no tables that I spotted (there are benches, however).
It's not an off-leash trail, but most of the dogs I saw weren't leashed (my one complaint, actually, since my pup is super anxious and not great with dogs). It does seem that most owners do clean up after their dogs, however, so...

It feels like its there all of a sudden..if you driving, it may feel like you are at wrong spot. There is no designated parking.. you can find a roadside spot. No restrooms or any amenities. There are bunch of residential houses nearby and it seems like they are the most frequent visitors. But, its beautiful with the giant old trees, air feels extra pure in there, so its definitely worth a quick visit if you are in...
