Horrible waste of money. There are countless low-income, ill, homeless, and suffering people in this city that are not getting adequate help. However, the city decides to spend this much time and money to build this out while consistently approving budget cuts for social services. This money could have gone much further and made a much greater impact on society if it was spent wisely and on people who really need it. I know the system is far more complex in budgey allocation but for simplicity sake for example the money that was spend on this art if it was spend elsewhere it could have supported SIX HUNDRED Edmonton citizens with$1k of cash each. Also not to mention the negative environmental effects of the nearby ecosystem by planting this honking piece of metal right dab in the middle.
I am not one to disapprove of art or spending reasonable money on it. I understand that it has value and the profound impact it can have on people. But the execution and budget of this is ridiculous, and it couldn't be more of waste. It does not even look that great, and the city should've invested in local or indigenous artists to actually represent and respect this city...

Loved by many, misunderstood by most, the dome stands along a prominent roadway to be enjoyed by drivers, and welcomes visitors into the Fort Edmonton Park/ John Jansen Nature Center entry. Reflecting the beauty of our river valley, and making drivers reflect on something beyond their commute, I think the dome playfully engages it's it's audience. The best part? The artists hope it means something different for every single person. I encourage you to read the artists statement and form your own opinion- beyond the controversy- and think about what this piece of art...
Read morePolarizing is the one word I can think of when describing this sculpture. I have looked at the reviews and either you love it or hate it. The 3.3 rating bears that out. Personally I love it. Isn’t that what art is supposed to do? It has elicited some unique comments either way. It’s in a highly visible spot and that is good because lots of people get to see it. I believe this sculpture has done its job because it gets people to think about it and what it means personally to them. Seeing it up close is really how to see it. I definitely recommend coming here to see it. Ignore the money that was spent on it and just appreciate it for what it is, a piece of art work that elicits emotion. Art...
