Tonight's experience was fun on the slopes, but not in the building!
When we arrived at the Snow Valley Ski Club for my son's skiing lessons, we entered the front lobby area and approached the front desk where there were three ladies involved in a very deep conversation. A lady named Tara was the individual who helped us, but unfortunately, the demeanor, body language, and tone of voice of Tara made both my fiance and I uncomfortable. When we approached Tara at the desk, it appeared that we were inconviencing her with our need for assistance and that she did not want to help us. We explained that we wanted to purchase lift tickets and rentals for ourselves so we could enjoy the slopes while our son was in lessons. When she explained it was a 4 hour minimum, she barked the price at me like it was something to reconsider ($147).
Furthermore, when giving me the prices, asking for my name, and explaining everything, the way she spoke was extremely snarky and just uncalled for.
Tone of voice and body language gives off more of your intended message than you think, and the way this employee spoke to us needs an improvement. Also, if you're sitting at the front desk, be prepared to have questions asked, provide info, and help customers! Be useful. Don't just be a paper weight
But beyond tonight's experience with Tara, I had great interactions with every other staff member, including the instructors! The slopes are nice and the...
Read moreNew to the area and decided to check out Snow Valley- I think it's safe to say I won't be returning.
I understand that it was opening day and there is likely a learning curve for some of your staff- but some of the issues the we experienced were not only inconvenient but a safety issue.
While the rental section were friendly enough, they seem to have no knowledge about how to properly size someone for a snowboard. My 6'2, 220lb husband was given a 145 snowboard- all of his information was provided and based on that they staff should have been able to match him with an appropriately sized board for someone of his height and weight.
The chair lift operation was horrendous. On several runs we witnessed people take a fall trying to get off the lift, and the operator just kept on going causing a huge pile up of people rather than slowing the lifts to allow downed skiiers/boarders the opportunity to get up and out of the way.
For a hill that seemingly prides itself on being beginner friendly there didn't seem to be a lot of care or understanding that those beginner patrons might need some extra time and patience.
It was an all around VERY expensive night to get 4 runs in...it was so disorganized, there were unsupervised children cauing crashes all over the hill...both my husbandand I were crashed into on multiple occassions. We stayed for a grand...
Read moreI regret not reading the 1 star reviews before I went there. Extremely rude staff and management. Please go elsewhere for your own sanity and a better experience. You are not allowed to teach your child even though I bought 2 full lift tickets for me and my son so that I can teach him to ski for the first time. We were staying in the bunny hill area because it was his first time. The staff and management demanded me to pay for their instructor sessions, otherwise I wouldn't be allowed there. If you read all the 1 star reviews you will realize that all other beginners had the same negative experience. Your child is expected to be completely independent, otherwise you HAVE TO PAY for them to teach your child. At first when I was denied at the hill, their reason was that it was unsafe for other beginners because we had to ski left to right at the bunny hill. But that's how you practice, isn't it? You don't just dash downhill like a crazy person. Then when I talked management their reason was that I had to PAY for instructors to teach my child. So if I pay extra on top of the lift tickets, my child will be allowed at the bunny hill? It's only when I teach him that he is not allowed? What a joke. It's sad that we have to deal with this kind of bullying behaviour. Please go elsewhere for your own sanity and a...
