Read moreWell can't say much about the taste test, since we never got to that point. I found the phone # and decided to give them a call, and asked them when and how much about the taste test. The girl answered me and said we start at 10 am and it's FREE, yes you heard me, she said it's FREE, so in my car with our friends and of we go. Place looks great, but talking to the staff upon our arrival, 3 out of 4 of them, responded with an attitude as if it was a favor from them to us for being there. We got there at 11:00 am, and went inside, the main lady in charge told us that the taste test did not start before 12:00 pm, ok so we sat down and chatted with our friends in the meantime, since the weather was so great. Close to 11:50am we asked a staff person where do we go to taste test? She answered us - "You have to go inside and book your place" WHAT!!!! Yep, the places were already full till 1:00 pm, not willing to wait another hour, we left. :( Disappointing that the main staff woman, could not just have told us, book now we have some availability for 12:00, since you need to book to reserve a spot. I guess their loss, since we all went to another winery, and bought a case of wine there instead. Bad communication from their part, and bad move from me not having read their website instead of only calling. By the way, the taste test wasn't FREE as she indicated, but $20 pp. And yes, I know this is about the normal price they started charging these day. COVID fault, I guess. Another disappointing fact we found out on site is that we could no longer visit the basement to take pictures of the barrels, because of the COVID, even if they show you pictures on the Website with people taking a drink on a barrel. - OK, added to post for your reply below ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I said, my fault for not visiting your Website and thinking to trust that the personal would answer my questions, and elaborating a bit more on the details. Example: #1 – Girl on phone told me it started at 10:00 for taste test, and it was free! Well at least this part she was correct, but did not mention that there was also a different package for $20 with the full story starting only later. Example #2 – We got there at 10:55 all four of us went to the front desk for a taste test as per my conversation on the phone, but got told straight out by the lady in charge that day, that the taste test started only at 12:00 PM and the cost was $20 pp. Ok, 1 hour to wait, it’s nice outside let’s sit down and wait, but not happy about the added cost not mentioned since we were told it was FREE, but we accepted. (The error was, she assumed we wanted the $20 package, and not just taste the wine at the counter like you mentioned in your comment.) (The 2nd error, at that time she should have advised us to register, since places were limited, - she did nothing of this). Example #3 - As we were waiting, we asked one of the girls setting up the tables, if it was possible to visit the basement so we could take pictures near the barrels while in our taste test, she replied, NO! the basement is now closed for all visitors, because of the COVID! Those were her exact words. Conclusion: As we went back in at 11:50 am we were told it was full and that we had to register for 1:00 pm. I hope these steps layout out for you are clearer, in what happen in our visit. Personal in charge should be updated on the way to respond to clients and taking time to fill them in, which she lacked for us at that time. Imaging your very early for visit somewhere but on your way there you see this Vignoble Riviere du Chene, and decide as a group to stop and go see, and even taste test if possible. Staff should take the time to fill you in on all options. And thanks for...
We were 5 women. We arrived around 12:30.
Bistro ; good food and amazing view ! We had the wine Gabrielle, beef tartar, salad niçoise . Pain dore, and the guedille.
Arrived at the reception for the wine tasting but we got informed that they don’t have any availability for the next 2 hour. ( something she should told us before my opinion ..)
We decided to do our own degustation so we bought 4 bottle ! It seems for them to be hard to explain the wine in order for us to decide which one we had to buy. We didn’t feel the women like to work there or don’t want to put any effort. I asked for a ice bucket with ice. She told me they don’t have???? What ..??
I had to go inside to buy a little plastic wine bag for 10$ each ???. Didn’t wanted to spend on this. Already bought 4 bottle+ It was so hot outside I just took one plastic wine bag filled with ice so we can put it on our glasses ( no choice to spill the wine at this point …)
Time for the cheese platter ! We go upstairs at the bistro , the server came in panic to tell us we can’t sit here with the wine ! ???? The wine is the same everywhere! It’s their wine… He told us the wine purchased downstairs has to be drinked downstairs and the one at bistro has to be drink upstair at the bistro . Although it is the exact same 🧐 and … bistro is closed. ( it was 3pm ) okay? Can’t stay on the patio to relax neither . We felt kicked out.
But ! Nevertheless we want to enjoy our day ! 😁 we are dedicated to find solutions. They don’t sell cheese plater at their store downstairs ( Huge lack .. ) so we bought their cheeses individually, crouton and jam at the “souvenir store”. And … 🥁 helpless.. again. They don’t have plate, anything from the kitchen, NOTHING to accommodate us. Anything to give us for our little pik nic. I asked her if I can ask their bistro for knife and a plate. She said no… so we had to cut our cheese with a wood knife and eat on the table with hand paper and a plastic cup to put our crouton in . Improvised . NOBODY offered us service their really don’t cares.
🍒 oh and … on our way to do our picnic. I saw a employe at the wine stand pouring ice on a wine bucket … she literally lied to me. ( but why ..? We bought 5 bottle total we didn’t deserve at least a bucket so we can enjoy our day at your facility? And why lying ? )
Very nice place but it’s SO unfortunate to have such a bad service, NON LOGIC way to operate their business.
We will never go back and recommend because of this. Only go for the...
Read moreThe bistro - upstairs with a dining room and seating on the terrace - offers excellent dining experience. The best pasta dish I've had in Montreal (6 months in). The service was friendly and efficient. And the wines were all very good. None off the charts but a lot of blends of grapes I'm completely ignorant of, all very good. We went for mother's day, and had the 3 wine flights - 2 rose, the two whites, and two reds - all very good. The Accras were with salmon (that day) and were excellent. The mushroom soup was rather in the style of a miso, light but the mushrooms shone! There was one dessert, it was basically an elevated cupcake with a whipped marscapone "frosting", the cake was designed to be soaked, and while it held up, it didn't quite work. Seemed like an experiment, which I very much appreciate, but looking forward to next time. Downstairs there is some seating for the marche - where one can buy pate and bottles of wine. You can also buy a bottle and head to the picnic tables, under trellises, next to the vines. Or if all those are taken, there are more patio seating. Downstairs as long as you buy a bottle, you...
