Wekusko Falls is an absolutely stunning Manitoba gem. It’s well worth the trip.

Realities you should know. Horseflies and mosquitos are a real problem in Northern Manitoba. It’s not unusual to get out your vehicle and have over 100 horseflies swarming around you and your vehicle. Add in the mosquitos which make Winnipeg mosquitos look like mini mosquitos and you can get pretty uncomfortable quick.

The campground showers were pretty gross. The walls were disgusting. I wouldn’t let my daughter shower there. She just waited to return to Winnipeg.

There is a staff shortage issue in the park so the is no park employees working Monday and Tuesday. You can imagine two days of dirty washrooms and showers.

There was also a fire ban and because there were no park patrols most of the people were having fires.

The beach is small and has wonderful sand even the water. Water is crystal clear. We literally had hundreds of fish around us as we swam and hung out in the water. That was amazing.

So would I recommend Wekusko Falls… absolutely. It’s Manitoba gem 100 % and a must see, however, come prepared mentally and armed with repellant/anti itch cream for the horseflies and mosquitoes as well as a sweater and long pants. Also keep expectations in check with regards to campground facilities such as the shower and washroom maintenance. In my case the beauty of Wekusko Falls made these shortcomings worth the...

I think it was worth it. If you like to fish it's a good fishing place off the shore or in a boat. We caught our limit in walleye in half an hour fishing from the dog beach. The hiking trail is short but you get to see the rushing water/falls. The beach is basic. The better beach is at steep rock where we stopped in a couple hours into our drive just no pets allowed on the beach. There are modern shower/bathrooms but there are still hole in ground toilets around too. If you don't mind not having electricity I'd recommend the walk-in tenting area. There are spots there where you'd be by the water with a view...

Just stayed at the provincial park. Don't go!!! We were told we had a site for 2 nights. Only one and then conservation officer came and told us to move!! But we checked in with the operator when we came to the park. Don't stay here. We ended up leaving in the middle of a beautiful day because of their screw up. Operator didn't even come to apologize or offer anything. Not worth it as they are very unprofessional. Park is in disrepair and showers are disgusting. Stay at grass river park and just do a day trip. Get it together...

If you haven't heard of this incredibly scenic spot and the beautifully lush campground and day area that surround it, then you're in for a treat! While there isn't much for trails or hiking, there are all the amenities a campground should have like showers, privacy, a boat launch, a beach, and even a dog-friendly swimming area! There is also a tenting-only area where you can sleep next to the sounds of the falls. Great vistas from the suspension bridge!

Wow, as if I only found out about this place this year! Definitely a must see if up north. I would argue better than Pisew Falls even, though not as big, but you can get much closer to the falls themselves and can look at them from both the edge down as well as straight on from the suspension bridge (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong about Pisew).

I was there late October, the gates were closed, but parking by lodge across the road was still available. In difference with most of #39 Hwy, there was mobile reception. There were no people and the trail, both swinging bridges and the falls themselves were just beautiful! Loved this place.
