Private Property " DO NOT ENTER". Saturday August 20th around 5 pm 2022. First off I would like to say this is not a regular review. What I saw of the place looked quite amazing and well kept for a fairly new business/site. I was intending on possibly staying for a week or so next year if it was available. Unfortunately this will not be happening. We have been driving past this place for a couple of summers now. I dont know when it opened but I did notice it last year. We were always in a hurry or pulling a camper and couldnt drop in to ask questions and possibly check it out. I was staying in the area on my motorcycle this past weekend and decided to have a look and see what it was all about. MISTAKE !!!......I guess you cant check it out. I drive BMW motorcycle that is as quiet as an electric scooter. I drove in and checked out a few of the sites on the left as you enter. I turned around quietly and came out. I then saw an arrow to some other sites so I decided to look at those before I went to inquire at the office about rates, availabilty etc. While turning around at the end of that road a kid approached me on a golf cart and drove by me. I nodded and he nodded back as if if to say hi. No indication of my illegal breach. I started to make my way way back out to go to the office thinking everything was ok. I was only looking around and only in first gear driving about 5 kms or less...just idling actually. To my left as I came out from the sites I noticed a girl sprinting back to the main office...when she saw me she started running/ coming in my direction and shouted " Hey you". When I realized it was meant for me I gladly went to where she was. The first thing without any greeting etc , she said " What do you think your doing driving ALL OVER our property". I said I was just checking it out because I was curious as to the set up and wondered what it was all about and that there was no sign saying I couldnt enter. She then said " This is private property and you cant be in here" I said " ok im sorry I didnt know you couldnt drive in and I never meant to cause anyone any stress. This was not my intent at all and that I was truly sorry, as I was just out for an afternoon run/ride waiting for dinner to be cooked and thought I would drop in. She did say after that it was a camping/ glamping business but no other explanation except a growly expression. Anyway I appologized a few times more and said I would leave immediately, and I did. Thats my experience with Four Corners Algonquin. I just want to say that this was a huge over reaction. A simple ," hello , how are you, welcome to our business" would have been suffice or appropriate. Maybe an "excuse me sir you have to check into the office first, may I help you"? Not being treated like a 14 year old on a dirt bike who just found his way into a farmers field, ripping around the property. Have a look, assess the situation before reacting. Honestly. No where at the entrance did it say , private property enter ar your own risk! With the greeting I got, as a potential customer, maybe even flashing lights would be a good start. Just a tip, you never know who you are potentially offending when you treat people that way and if you are dealing with the not knowing potential public customer I would think about a different approach. If you are so booked up that a person cant even drive in off the street and ask questions I would say " good on you for being so successful". Hopefully you will never have to depend on word of mouth or reviews only to attract potential business. Because the approach yesterday will result in many reviews such as this or some not so good Starbucks banter leading to loss of business or no business at all. I suggest a guard house and a gate if you dont want the passing public to accidentally stumble on your operation. Or at least warn people of the possible interaction with the local "wild life". Thanks ..hope not to see you soon. Andrew Follow up ....I see your response and nowhere in my review do I disrespect people with "...
Read moreMe and my husband recently visited Four corners for Glamping and had the most exciting and relaxing experience. I had only heard great things about the place from my husband as he had previously been there. This year we planned and booked a camp for us and since it was my first glamping experience I had pretty high hopes. I am not exaggerating when I say that the place, services and the owners will make sure that all your needs are met and that you are well taken care of. Not only did we love the site and camp but also are immensely grateful to Angela and John because of whom we are safe and sound today. My husband and I decided to do a trek which was around 10 km long. We started good but in the middle of the trek the weather suddenly changed and it started raining. Initially it wasn't a lot and we were not worried and continued the trek but soon the weather worsened and it started raining cats and dogs with a touch of thundering and lightning. On the top of the hill it felt like it was right on our head. We reached a point where due to the heavy rain we could not see where we were headed and if it was the right way. We frantically decided to call Four corners to ask for some help and guidance. That one call from us was enough to explain the situation we were in. Without any further delay Angela and John were on their toes and started looking for all the possible ways to help us. John immediately called us OPP and was on call with them for 20 minutes while he was driving towards our location to help us meanwhile Angela called us multiple times to make sure we were okay. She asked us to send her our location so that they could understand better regarding the ways they could help us. We started walking and continued following the blue dots that we initially took on our trail. John started calling us out by whistling (we know this coz Angela told us) but we could not hear anything. It was still pouring so there was a lot of water on the path now which made us go a little slower. But since we were constantly in touch with both of them it only encouraged us to keep going forward. When we finally started hearing John whistle my husband also whistled back to communicate. Soon enough we met John who was all ready with some jackets and umbrellas for us (we loved how he thought of getting those things to protect us from the rain) We are immensely grateful for everything they did for us. So Algonquin four corners is not just a glamping site with amazing facilities but it also has the best people who will do their best and will be on their toes if you need any...
Read moreJohn and his staff are amazing. I was more than impressed with the entire experience. It was better than anything I could've expected or imagined.
We are a family of five and stayed in a safari tent designed for four people. The kids slept on the king-sized bed and we pushed the floor twin beds together for the adults.
Tents are equipped with mattresses, two night stands, solar-powered string lights, clothing hooks, a trash bin and a broom. Outside, there's a propane-powered grill, six Muskoka chairs with phone and drink holders, and a fire pit.
Firewood and propane are both included. You get one free cord of wood per night booked. If you decide to order anything from The Quartermaster Shack, you can do it online and they'll bring it right to your site. You can also rent basic necessities before you arrive (i.e. sleeping bags), and it will be at your site when you get there. We ordered extra firewood online and got it in under 10 mins.
Staff come around daily: -Around 5:30 pm to deliver firewood -Midday to check the propane tank -Around 8 pm to collect trash
They also offer to help you start a fire or teach you how, if you need it.
Facilities are regularly cleaned. Despite being private, John and his staff appear to patrol the property, which I appreciate.
There's an outdoor kitchen equipped with soap, sponges and towels, where you can cook, wash and eat as a group. The water in the outdoor kitchen is also potable. The kitchen counter has... Wait for it... Both USB and USB-C wall plugs. I was pretty impressed with that. 😅
Showers are equipped with shampoo, soap and conditioner. Washrooms are equipped with free feminine hygiene products and sunscreen!!
The service and amenities are better than most hotels I've ever stayed at. It's a beautiful location with a great view of the stars.
Day passes into Algonquin Park are also included with your stay.
Make sure you check in with John when you arrive. He'll tell you the best place to start exploring and where to get the best ice cream.
Thank you to the entire staff for helping us continue our family tradition of camping, but making it a lot less work.
Hope to see you again...
