The Lennox and Addington Dark Sky viewing area is a wonderful place to admire the night sky, as long as everyone respects the rules and etiquette of stargazing. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. I urge people to please turn off their lights, whether they are from their cars, flashlights, or phones. It is very rude and disruptive to shine bright lights in the dark, especially when others are trying to enjoy the celestial beauty or capture it with their cameras. Please dress warmly and patiently wait for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. Do not use flashlights unless absolutely necessary, and if you do, cover them with red film to reduce the glare. This is nota place to blast music or party, but to appreciate the silence and serenity of nature. Please be considerate of other stargazers and astrophotographers who are passionate about the night sky. I wish the place had some signs or guidelines to remind people of the proper...
Read moreThis was my second visit to a dark sky area to take photos of the Milky Way Galaxy. The location and facilities were great, and I would like to visit this place again in the future. One drawback of this location was that it was close to highway #41, which was carrying a lot of traffic. There were a few times when I had to retake a long exposure because the headlights or tail lights of a passing car showed up on the image. I could get around that by timing my photos of the Milky Way Galaxy to when a vehicle went by since I could hear the vehicles coming. That didn't work well when I tried to take a series of long exposure photos to make a star trail image. Every once in a while the headlights of a car would show up on one of the images. I'm not 100% sure, but I also believe that the light from Napanee in the south was visible in the Milky Way...
Read moreAmazing experience. First time saw milky Way. The condition was good, not full moonless otherwise it would have been spectacular. Didnt had an Telescope or Binoculars which could have made the experience more special. Nonetheless the area is very easy to find and the viewing area is just beside the parking lot which was very convenient. The place was also not too crowded . Tried to capture the Milky way with my phone and I think you can barely see it in the picture. I wish I had all the astro photography set up with me.
My Tips would be to go on a moonless night like when it is new moon, give you eyes few mins to adjust to the dark, bring a bug spray as they are the only thing that can bother you. Overall a must go location if you want to see what really out there when you are not affected all the ligh pollution of the...
