Extremely Disappointed with Staff Attitude at Historic Stewart Farm
We came all the way from Vancouver specifically for the stamp activity mentioned in the tourism challenge . The booklet clearly stated that the attraction is open until 4:30 PM. We arrived at 4:00 PM to find the door closed and a sign that contradicted the booklet, saying hours were only until 4:00 PM.
Just as we were about to leave, we saw our friends who had arrived just minutes earlier being assisted by a staff member. They were told they could complete the task and then go around to the back to receive the stamp. Based on that, I knocked on the door to ask if we could do the same because we arrived at 4:04.
Instead of any kind of professional response, the white woman with glasses who had just helped our friends looked at me and said, “I’m on the phone, are you crazy?” Absolutely unacceptable behavior, especially from someone representing a public heritage site.
It was incredibly disappointing and left a terrible impression. If you close at 4 PM, update your materials. And more importantly, teach your staff how to treat visitors with basic respect. We came a long way for this experience, and instead we were met with rudeness...
Read moreBeautiful historical site with friendly and knowledgeable staff members. The gift shop was closed however one of the staff members opened the shop for me and I was able to buy 2 beautiful Royal Albert tea sets and some heritage seeds.
The staff member wore beautiful clothing that was period appropriate, some of which she sewed herself. Everything from her hair to her glasses were period appropriate. You could tell she took great pride in her position there and it made our experience accelerated.
The house is stunning both inside and out and the grounds are beautiful. Take time to peruse the fruit orchard, reading the plaques or walk to the bee hive and watch the bees at work.
There is an indigenous carving house being built with beautiful architecture so it will be very nice to see once it is complete.
There are picnic benches so if you would like to bring a picnic and sit in the sun on the water after your tour of the Stewart House, you can have yourself a very enjoyable and full day at the...
Read moreThe Amish people who live here are queer folk. They don't seem to realize it's 2024. Nice looking farm though. Jebidiah will let you marry one of his daughter in exchange for helping him raise the neighbour's historic heritage farm house if you're interested. I declined, as raising barns looks hard when I have Tinder. His daughters don't use dating apps though, so if you take a shine to Mary Ann, or her sister Mary Ann, or her sister Mary Ann, or Abigail, or Abigail's older sister, Abigail, or Abigail's younger sibling Abigail then you will have to woo them by impressing father Jebidiah with your barn raising skills. Anyways, if you love the 19th century woman, then brush up on your Bible readings and take a stroll on down to Jebidiah Stewart's and friends' heritage Stewart farm. It's a great place to plough fields and plant...
