I recently visited Sunset Beach, and it was a horrifying experience due to the gross negligence and unprofessional behavior of the beach guards. Jet skis were recklessly speeding through the swimming area, coming dangerously close to swimmers, and creating an extremely perilous environment. Despite the obvious risk to public safety, the beach guards, who appeared to be friends with the reckless jet skiers, did absolutely nothing to intervene or enforce any safety regulations.
Even worse, these so-called beach guards spent their time gawking at bikini-clad girls, indulging in loud and obnoxious chit-chat, and blasting music from their cars while socializing with their friends. They were completely derelict in their duties, showing no regard for the safety or well-being of beachgoers.
These guards were clearly foreign students, seemingly hired without any proper training or qualifications, which is utterly unacceptable for a public beach. Their incompetence and lack of professionalism transformed what should have been a relaxing day at the beach into a hazardous ordeal.
To make matters worse, when we complained to the guards about the dangerous situation, they deflected responsibility and tried to paint the beachgoers as the problem and themselves as the victims. This blatant disregard for safety and accountability is appalling.
This appalling situation needs immediate attention and corrective action. Sunset Beach is currently a danger zone, and the management must address these severe safety violations and ensure that properly trained and professional guards are on duty. Until then, I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this beach for...
Read moreWe had an incredible family trip to Sunset Beach in St. Catharines last weekend!
Based on the high levels of e. Coli in the water in Toronto this summer, we were really worried about this beach in St. Catharines. Surprisingly enough, checking the daily Niagara Ontario testing website for e coli, sunset Beach has been safe to swim.
The beach was clean, the sand was great, washrooms were clean and the water was swim-able. The kids had a blast building sandcastles and playing in the sand.
There was plenty of space to set up and lots of parking. (PLEASE TAKE NOTE, PARKING IS $3 EVERY HOUR, PARKING METERS ALL AROUND, OR YOU CAN USE THE HONK APP).
The proximity at the parking lot made it easy for us to set up our gear, coolers, lunch table, chairs and relax. One of the highlights was the water is quite shallow even if you walk a few hundred metres inwards, which makes it quite safe for little kids.
We took so many beautiful photos as the sky turned vibrant shades of orange and pink. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
The facilities were well-maintained, with showers and washrooms that are cleaned regularly. We can't wait to come back again. Highly recommend Sunset Beach for a fun and relaxing...
Read moreGreat Beach, However While attending Sunset Beach, located at 1 Lombardy Ave, St. Catharines, ON L2M 1A1, my family witnessed multiple watercraft vehicles, or Jetskis, crossing the buoys of the beach and riding within pedestrian swim areas. This is an unacceptable issue that endangers beachgoers, as the individuals riding the jet skis are oblivious to the pedestrians swimming within the areas allocated strictly for them. For the entire duration of our visit to the beach, it appeared to be unmonitored, meaning no beachfront security witnessed or confronted the violators of their grave transgression that will and can severely injure or cause the death of many civilians. My family has felt unsafe at the beach on multiple occasions, as the jet ski riders came extremely close to those swimming in shallow waters, especially those with small babies and toddlers. I urge the city to remedy the lapses in safety patrolling and monitoring at the beach, as the security personnel, when confronted about the issue, made us feel like our safety was a burden and frankly, could not care about...
