BEAUTIFUL SPOT!! WORTH THE STOP if your passing through Thunder Bay, ON ---》Side note...check out kakabeka falls provincial park.... not far from here.《--- You do not need to buy tickets. There is an information building which is pet friendly and has alot of useful information about Thunder Bay and surrounding areas including Manitoba. Washrooms Nd bulding are clean. The young lady who was working today was absolutely AMAZING! She was very helpful and had lots of good information about the area. She had a joy for her job you could tell she loves what she does. She asked if we were passing by or from the area and if we knew where we were going to stay the night. We were just passing thru and didnt know where we were planning on staying the night. The young lady suggested that we go check out Kakabeka Fall provincial park and also gave us a list of motels/hotels with phone numbers from Thunder Bay to Manitoba.

  • I really wish i got the young ladys name so i could make a good compliment to her boss for her. :) she had dark brown curly hair wore glasses, skinny and...

This is such a beautiful memorial. What I remember from being the same age as Terry and from the same area he was a very humble person who shied away from the spotlight as much as possible while still promoting his goal of raising money and awareness for fighting the battle against cancer. Almost 23 years old and he did more for others than most people do in a long lifetime. The memorial is perfect. It tells Terry's story and is understated what he did bringing Canada together. Elementary kids still learn about him and hold annual runs to raise more money. It was such an emotional visit for me. I never knew him, but I am so proud to know OF HIM. And oh yes, the view is gorgeous looking out toward the Sleeping Giant and the islands. Luckily I arrived before sunset because when I returned the next morning the smoke from northern fires descended over the region and I couldn't see...

It was simply breathtaking to witness the summation of such a compelling part of Canadain history immortalized and preserved for generations to come. The view from the lookout/memorial will take your breath away. The sculpture of Mr. Fox beautifully captures the anguish and raw emotion that Terry was feeling during his trek. It serves to remind visitors that there is no limit to how resilient the human spirit is, and that our drive and ambition can inspire others to advocate for the good left in the world. We wandered inside the visitors center looking for souvenirs, and we were pleased to learn that the Fox family did not want to monetize Terry's efforts and prefers to not make any kind of profit from the memorial. I considered myself lucky to be able to witness the spot with Terry stopped and then stand in the shadow of...

I recently visited the Terry Fox Monument while on my way to Geraldton. It has always been my dream to come here, especially since three of my children attended Terry Fox Secondary School in Port Coquitlam. The statue, created by sculptor Manfred Pervich, marks the place where Terry Fox was forced to stop his run on August 31, 1980. Interestingly, the monument is located approximately four kilometres west of the exact spot where Fox ended his run, which is marked by a road sign. The area was well-kept and clean. Additionally, the Terry Fox Monument & Tourist Information Centre offers a wide array of travel brochures. The staff there were very informative, helpful, and friendly.
