The Vegreville Pysanka is a must see attraction and a cherished landmark that has been a part of my family’s travels for over 40 years. Every time we visit Vegreville, stopping here is a tradition, and it never fails to impress. The egg itself is breathtaking; so beautifully crafted and well maintained that it looks just as stunning as the first time I saw it, even as the years go by.
The greenery surrounding the Pysanka is equally nice and well cared for, creating a peaceful and picturesque family photo setting. The park is always immaculate, making it a wonderful spot to relax and take in a few minutes of zen. The play area is a huge hit with the kids, providing plenty of space for them to enjoy.
The gift shop is another highlight of the visit. The friendly staff and unique selection of items make it a fun stop every time. I still proudly wear the Pysanka socks I picked up years ago, a reminder of Vegerville
Whether it’s your first visit or one of many, the Vegreville Pysanka and its beautiful park are a testament to the town’s pride and heritage. Highly recommended for anyone...
Read moreBeen here my whole life and I just discovered in 1975 for the centennial of the RCMP the project started. First a team of mathematicians needed to figure out how to assemble 2D tiles into a 3D egg & after a computer science professor wrote an algorithm to cast a periodic B-spline curve that was used to design & manufacture the weather vain/egg. ( yeah... it rotates) it was the first physical structure designed entirely with computer-aided geometric modeling software. After cutting the over 3000 different pieces which included congruent equilateral triangles & concave hexagons the software created to guide the lasers which cut The pysanka’s tiles was eventually purchased and used for the cutting of the exterior tiles of the NASA space shuttle. Some deep history embedded in our...

I had heard of this place for years so when I found myself driving past Vegerville I had to seize the opportunity to stop by.
It is easy to find off the highway. You just stay on the main road until you get to the park.
I recommend reading the information signs about the history of the structure. I found them informative and a quick read. It is cool that they even have the best spot for a selfie marked out on the pathway for those who want a fun photo of them pretending to hold the egg up.
There is a nice park here as well as a pond with a fountain too. The parking here is adequate as people are always coming and going.
Stop by and see what Queen Elizabeth herself came to...
