This review is catered towards dog owners looking to take their four-legged companions to Derby Reach Regional Park off leash area.

Popularity: 5/5 Derby Reach Regional Park's off leash area is a favorite among dog owners, offering ample space for dogs to socialize without feeling overcrowded. Despite its popularity, the park's expansive size allows for quiet, secluded spots to play with your dog in solitude.

Activities: 4/5 The park caters to a wide range of activities suitable for dogs. It features a section with Fraser River access for water-loving dogs, sprawling grassy fields for play, and numerous other dogs for socializing. For a more laid-back experience, there are walking paths throughout the off leash area, which is divided into large, fenced or naturally bordered sections, interconnected by gates.

Views: 3/5 While the park may not boast spectacular views, its riverside location offers pleasant scenery. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil sights of grassy fields and trees, making for a nice backdrop to your visit.

Comfort: 5/5 Derby Reach Regional Park provides a relaxing atmosphere for families and their dogs. The off leash area features flat walking paths, open fields for leisure, and picnic tables in select spots, ensuring a comfortable visit.

Safety: 5/5 Safety is a top priority, with the off leash area securely enclosed by fences and natural barriers like the river, allowing dogs to roam freely and securely.

Access/Parking: 4/5 The park is easily accessible by car, with ample free parking nearby the entrance. The only minor drawback is its distance from central Metro Vancouver, which may be a consideration for some visitors.

Summary: Derby Reach Regional Park's off leash area stands out as a popular and spacious destination for dog owners. With diverse activities, adequate safety measures, and convenient access, it's an ideal location for enjoying quality time with your dog. The park's serene environment and ample amenities ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit for both dogs and...

We have been going to this park with our dog for a long time now but more than recently we won't come here again. As our dog struggles with recall and I do not trust the people, they do not close the gates properly or look behind to see our dog trying to sneak through before we can run up and grab her. Today someone again opened the gate without checking around and our dog quickly sneaked by into the river off leash area .. ( which is not fenced by the way) if your dog is an escape artist like ours and is focusing on hunting bunnies and trying to roam then this park is not safe for your dog. Ours had escaped due to people not closing the gates or looking around and being aware and the moment our dog sneaked out into the river side area she knew her way out because it is NOT gated all around!!

Anyways I advise people : please close the gates..: fully with chains so dogs cannot escape ( ones with poor recall) and also please look around and make sure you're not putting other dogs at risk of escaping and wait for us to run up and grab our dog.

Not all dogs are recall trained. Ours is a rescue from Iran.we have trained her a few times with a trainer and it's a progress still.

But for our own peace of mind we are never taking her here again.

Due to the un fenced river side ... and not being able to trust people closing the gates and watching out for our dog trying to sneak by when they open the gate unaware.

Be aware and cautious for the safety...

This review does not reflect the dog park as the park is beautiful and one of the best ones in the GVRD. Our new vehicle was vandalized (keyed) while parked on Allard Crescent. Our car was pulled over far off the road, in line with other vehicles that visit the area. I know this area is also popular with cyclists... If anyone witnesses any such actions, please report them to the RCMP non emergency line. Our new rescue dog had the time of her life at the park, too bad this person felt the need to ruin a new car.

Parking gets full on the warmer weekends, do not park on the roadside (will get a ticket). Great place to visit - great picnic spots with BBQ areas and RV parkings (gets full quickly). Few separated off-leash dog areas (some of them do not have any shade), might wanna bring water for your pup on the warmer days? . My dog absolutely loved the place and didn not want to leave🙂. Well kept very clean park with long enough trails.
