Had a pretty good experience at Glow Langley, but having just visited WinterLights at PNE, there's certainly room for improvement.
The cars were split into 4 lanes, but there seemed to have been some confusion and disorganization between the staff. I was also approached by 3 different staffs about scanning my ticket. It was also a bit frustrating seeing cars who arrived later getting to go in first and in the end, we waited for about 20 minutes before our lane was finally flagged to go ahead.
The Glow Cups were cute, but certainly not worth the $4 price point. I like to collect these festive cups and mugs, and the Christmas market ones put a lot better effort in them. These glow cups are just the night market light bulb cups with a Glow sticker stuck on them. They are also made of filmsy plastic so I do not recommend pouring anything hot into them.
The mini donuts were also barely warm, so they've been sitting around for a little while already. It would have been nice if the organizers could've invited or hired some food trucks to prepare these (like PNE) instead. Who wouldn't want a piping hot apple cider to sip while driving through?
Besides those initial short comings, the actual presentation of the lights were done very well. The venue felt smaller than PNE's, but the lights were more abundant and the theme goes together much better in each "zone". There were some light fixtures that were broken/defective as they weren't turned on, but it didn't affect the overall experience too much.
4/5 - Would Recommend! (But skip the glow cups and remember to bring your own cider in your...
Read moreI don't like leaving negative reviews, but this is about safety. We attended the event with our three-year-old and had a decent time until he started playing on the indoor playground. It was understandably crowded due to the rain, and during play, he hit his mouth on some bars, causing a significant lip injury just before we were set to see Santa.
His lip was bleeding steadily, and I feared he might have torn or punctured it. We rushed to the first aid station only to find the staff lounging around and slow to respond. When they did, the first responder began by wiping his chin with alcohol wipes instead of assessing and properly cleaning the wound.
As a first responder myself, I was appalled by their incompetence. I requested water and gauze to clean and evaluate the injury, but they had none readily available. Instead, they handed me a wad of unravelled paper towel, assuring me it was sterile. Eventually, after five minutes, they located some gauze and saline.
The delay was shocking, and their suggestion to use Polysporin inside his lip was beyond inappropriate for a three-year-old. This whole experience, unfortunately, ruined our visit.
First aid staff should remain available and properly trained with the necessary supplies. This is a family event where injuries can occur, and parents should not have to worry about inadequate...
Read moreFirst year attending for our little family of three and we will be back every year. Our daughter is just shy of 1.5 and she could happily walk around as it wasn't to crowded inside. Lots of beautiful light displays, room for stroller and food trucks. We didn't eat but had wonderful hot chocolate.
The parking was so organized, I wish every event had something like this. Was a well oiled machine and no anexity over the busy lot.
Two big appreciations was under 4 was free making it a more affordable outing, especially since she mainly wanted to play with the rocks and jump in puddles haha. Also not over charging for the light ups. We got my daughter a wand for $5 were most places would of been over $20.
My only complaint and it wasn't due to venue but children were running thru the hanging lights and hitting them as parents just laughed. Yes I know they were just having fun but In result they were smacking my daughter in the face (plus the adults) and causing her to fall as they werent looking where they were running. I'm not a perfect parent by any means but I really wish they would of read the sign that said not to do those things. It made that area unenjoyable for us and others. Maybe have someone standing in that area to...
