Winter time here is just that. LOTS of snow but very beautiful little town. Somewhat friendly people, but rather clique. If you don't already know people here that are well situated you will have to spend a few months rooting until you start getting to know a few people and get the invites to gatherings. It's very lonely for the first few mi ths. So hunker down and take time to enjoy setting up you're own home. Get onto the social media sights, and once approved (took over 2 months for my Tumbler Ridge Buy, Sell, Trade Facebook marketplace group to approve my request), but there are other marketplace groups that are much faster and less discriminating. Post questions or ISO posts and people are quick to help this way. Try to spend some time at Willow Hall and the Community Recreation Center, which includes the library, fitness center, ice rink, curling etc. You will be able to gather a ton of info. in those two spots and may even meet a person or two who will chat and share with you. Hiking trails and waterfalls... Pretty soon I will be posting some wonderful nature photos of Tumbler Ridge for more people to enjoy. They do welcome tourists as they tourism generates much needed income for some of the small locally...

Personally I loved Boulder Gardens, because it was not too long and you get to see a lot of different things. I liked Bergeron Falls but it was a lot of walk in the woods for the view that you get. I loved Windfall Lake because it was a big fitness challenge (I don't recommend this one to beginners). Follow the indicators because at times it can be easy...
Read moreI love the hikes and feel very safe (compared to other places around BC). Always bring bear spray(wear around your belt) and extra water. It's only the trails that you need to drive on the gravel roads to get to I had a hard time with my little car. The visitor centre is amazing, extremely knowledgeable. For example, you can let them know your trail preferences, and they will provide you with the best advice and options that fit your wants since there are many trails to...
