French River Provincial Park Visitor Centre is an excellent starting point for exploring the beauty and history of the French River area. The building itself is beautifully designed, blending modern architecture with natural surroundings, and offers incredible views of the river and gorge from the nearby suspension bridge. Inside, the exhibits are well-curated and informative, showcasing the cultural and historical importance of the French River — from Indigenous heritage to early explorers and voyageurs. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to share insights or recommend trails and lookout points. The trails around the centre are well-marked and lead to stunning viewpoints, perfect for hiking and photography. Whether you’re stopping by for a short visit or planning a full day of exploration, the French River Visitor Centre is a must-see — peaceful, educational, and absolutely scenic!

Great educational and informative stop or jumping point for some interior camping. Picnic tables available if you brought your lunch. The museum is just two dollars for visitors or 1 dollar for children and offers great insight into the indigenous people's life, as well as metis and early days if the fur trade. Covering everything from local wildlife to archaeology of the area, this little museum packs in a lot into a small space. Information center and gift shop also on site.

What a beautiful facility. Indigenous ceremony area. Both pot and flushing washrooms. Free parking. Museum is a small fee. Nice gift shop with some useful outdoor gear like waterproof maps, ropes, pocket knives, fire starter kits. The 1.5km trail to Recollet falls is beautiful and highly technical with roots steep rocky sections. Good rugged shoes are essential. Mostly uphill on way out to the falls. Took us about 35min to get out there.

Free parking for trailers and cars. A nice length trail for a short hike to recollet falls but not a smooth trail, ankle boot suggested for the terrain. There is a small musuem inside, cost is $2 ( however we were uninformed it should have been free with our stay at grundy lake or other provincial parks) . We wernt all that impressed with the museum as theres no "real" artifacts. More of a story telling type musuem with decor to match. Nowhere to refill water, they informed its not drinkable as well. Staff not overly friendly just kindof get the job done....

I had been camping for a couple weeks and had to go buy fuel. I noticed the bridge, and on my returning, I stopped to have a look. I was very pleasantly surprised and found the displays and dioramas fascinating. And the bridge can provide for some wonderful photo opportunities. Note that the bridge is privately owned by a snowmobile club, and it has signs stating on a chain across the end. I was not too worried about upsetting a snowmobile club in July, and took some great shots from the center of the bridge, which spans the...
