Beautiful beach with sandy bottom and tons of great walking trails to explore. The lake scenery is stunning and definitely a photographer's paradise. Anyone who is a nature or wildlife enthusiast would certainly enjoy visiting Hecla Island. However, nearly all of the public bathrooms we used were absolutely repulsive and several had no toilet paper. We were fortunate enough to have carried napkins with us on our travels so we didn't have to walk around with sticky cheeks. Additionally, we visited Grassy Narrows Marsh trails and found ourselves 5 kms in the marsh without a sign or trail marker in sight and ended up hiking through brush, thistles, and tall grass on what was supposed to be the Turtle trail. After another almost 3 kms, I finally found a way to a road and trekked back to our vehicle so I could pickup my mom and 11 to niece. Neither were very pleased...

Wonderful campsites - our was spacious and level, with utilities at the back (near camper connections) unlike some other campgrounds. It really seems like they considered the need to back trailers in as well: campsites are angled relative to the road and it makes backing in really easy. We had an issue with power but just needed to reset a breaker. The breaker was hard to see at the back of the post and needed a firm touch but we didn't have any further issues once it was reset. Bay 4 has really nice play structure but other bays are not as nice. A short walk on the paths will help to find a nicer one. Hecla golf course is very nice, and we enjoyed terrific food at the resort. A great trip overall!

A beautiful park with lots of natural and historical sites to explore. Also one of the best public best dog beaches (Sunset Beach) in Manitoba. Definitely a great place to camp with your puppers.

For boaters just remember that Lake Winnipeg is always changing. It may seem like the islands are close and easily accessible but wind changes and undercurrents can take you by surprise. Please be safe and careful, too many people don't take it seriously...

Luckily the locals are very knowledgeable and friendly, ask around before planning your...
