This is such an incredibly beautiful spot to stop if you're travelling Highway 17. The scenery, terrain and sound of the waves are meditative and I am very tempted to bring a tent out and set it up on the beach.

The stop has washroom facilities which were very clean when I stopped. There are also trails in the area. If you plan on taking a dip in the cold, Lake Superior waters, be careful as the winds can pick up suddenly and there are no lifeguards on duty.

A number of picnic benches are placed within the treed area next to the beach and placards are placed at the picnic area and at the start on the trail with important and interesting information.

If you stop, plan to stay for a little while at least to soak up the relaxing atmosphere and enjoy the serenity of...

Katherine cove is one of our favourite places to stop. The sand beach is beautiful and the water is refreshing. Cold as always because you know, it’s Lake Superior. Parking is somewhat limited so be kind and patient. This visit the one washroom was closed and the other was not so pleasant. It looks like many people chose to use the washroom behind the outhouse leaving behind their toilet...

Photos are actually Bathtub Island. Great place to go. Very unique and easy to find. Personally I find it easier to park at Katherine’s cove and walk about 10 minutes to the entrance for Bathtub Island but you can park off Highway 17 close to the path leading to the beach. Great way to spend a morning or afternoon. With small kids possibly the whole day. You can walk out to the...

By far the warmest waters & super soft sandy beaches of Superior PP Some areas are more secluded than others, access is limited at Katherine Cove. Water clarity is amazing almost tropical further out from the shore ! Aquatic blues of all shades… Make use of paddle boards in Aug. Easily warm enough to swim out to rocky islands !

This is a beautiful spot to stop and stretch your legs. There are bathrooms to use (although they really needed to be cleaned and pumped out when we were there). We stopped and walked along the beach and had lunch here. Ended up spending about 2 hours here, but it was well worth it.
