Fall visit to the north east side of Algonquin Park. Short 1.5km looped trail, easy walking for all ages with moderate slopes. Marked canyon viewing areas can be busy with other visitors taking photos. One should stop along trails and take in the forest growth and natures surroundings. Lots of large 100’ ancient pine trees. As well, Fungi season is upon us. Several different types of fungi, Lichens and scalpycaps are everywhere, just don’t touch or walk on please. Hundred meter Cliffs are dangerous for out of control dogs and children. Both should be on leashes, for safety sake or leave them at home. This is a rocky, bumpy forest trail, saw someone pushing and pulling a loaded stroller. Must have been from Ottawa.

This is a beautiful part of our province that everyone should visit if they have the opportunity. It’s a short trail on the left on the way to Grand Lake. Grand Lake is also beautiful. If you have the chance to go all the way to Lake Traverse; that’s real wilderness. Talk to Algonquin Portage if you require equipment rental (eg canoe). They’ll even help you mount your rental on your roof. If you want to experience back country canoeing the route from Achray to Squirrel Rapids via Grand-Stratton-Barron River is a good place to start. It can be done in 2 or 3 days and there are plenty of beautiful options for campsites. Live this place!

Absolutely stunning view of the Canyon, beautiful spot to visit if you’re coming to Algonquin. There aren’t paved roads, however they were well maintained in the summer, to reach this view point so ensure your car can handle the drive. Limited to none cell service. Bathrooms near parking entrance, pack toilet paper. Trail is easy, but it is steep so bring the appropriate footwear. Incredibly big drop, exercise caution with children and dogs. ***Please cleanup after yourself and preserve the natural beauty of Canadas parks.***

This spot has been on my bucket list for years. We finally got to experience it recently. Yes it's remote, yes it's a trail less travelled (only saw 2 people). That's part of what makes it so special. The hike is short and steep through a forest with a thick blanket of pine needles. The only part where the trail is open to the cliff is at the top. Absolutely beautiful view of the canyon. As a senior with health issues I found this trail easily doable.
