This trail forms a partial loop stretching approximately 2.1 kilometers from the designated parking area. The path begins with a noticeable uphill climb leading to a scenic lookout point, followed by a downhill descent on the return. While the elevation change might seem challenging, it’s actually quite manageable for most hikers. In fact, the real difficulty lies not in the trail itself, but in securing a parking spot. This particular lookout is one of the most popular and easily accessible viewpoints in Algonquin Park, which means the parking lot fills up quickly—especially during the peak of the fall season. Autumn draws large crowds to this area, thanks to the stunning display of foliage that transforms the landscape into a vibrant canvas of reds, oranges, and yellows. Because of this seasonal popularity, finding a parking space can become a frustrating experience unless you arrive early or plan your visit strategically. For the best experience, I strongly recommend visiting before mid-October. After that point, many of the leaves will have already fallen, and the trees lose much of their colorful charm. Catching the trail during its peak foliage period not only enhances the visual appeal but also makes the lookout view truly...

A beautiful wide loop trail shy of 2km that winds through the forest, crosses a pretty stream to a few lookouts at the top. I believe it’s rated difficult but only if you’re cardio challenged as some sections are steep.

Along the trail at marker 2 there’s a split. An arrow points right. If you go left it’s slightly shorter but steeper. You won’t save much time so go right. Plus, there’s a cool pic opportunity with a glacial erratic, a big rock that was carried by glacial ice at this point.

The first lookout is awesome. There’s a bench to sit on but getting closer to the cliff face and sitting on a rock is breathtaking. Keep small children close.

It was sad to see some litter thrown out on the trail. I carry a small bag with me to pick up other peoples inconsiderations.

It takes about an hour so even those pressed for time can take in the beauty...

Surprised no ones mentioned about the crowd and packed parking.

The trails are scenic but packed with alot of people especially in the slippery, steep paths. The parking is the biggest nightmare. The lot gets full by noon and after that your only option is to park alongside the hilly road. If you do park in the hilly road, good luck driving your car in a 4 meter wide road with tons of people, cars coming from the opposition direction and other parked cars trying to merge in. Not to mention the road is very muddy and your tires might get stuck in the mud as it did for me. After all this hassle you get a nice view but it's nothing special you can't find anywhere else.

Overall it isn't worth it and you would be better of il hiking the trails in the northern portion...

It's an upward hike, a little steep in some sections but manageable. Watch out for exposed roots. I went 6 days ago and there were mostly yellows and some oranges. Most reds already fell, so I'm thinking much more leaves have fallen by now. Nonetheless, yellows are beautiful also and the hike is not that difficult. It took us an hour but I stopped for pictures and stay a bit at the lookout which was awesome despite being totally cloudy. Interestingly, there were two wasps or bees (didn't get a good look) there that were flying one each around me and another person. Eventually they flew away. There is one bench at the lookout and one bench on the hike down. There are a few low-lying rocks in the upper section of the hike up that you can rest on.
