Kin beach is pretty hit and miss. Benefit of going there is the nice playground and that it usually isn't the busiest beach in town, but if you're going for the water there are better places you could try. There's a lot of sharp rocks, branches in the water and it's usually pretty murky. If you're just looking to spend some time in the sun though I would go. There's covered areas, picnic tables, barbeques. Also the playground is awesome for younger, and older kids, definitely one of the better sets in Vernon. The trees are beautiful also and so is the view. I'd recommend going her over polson park considering how sketchy it has been lately, but if you're looking for nice beach and swimming look towards Jade/juniper or Kal beach, both are better...

At one end folks bring their pets which makes it one of the few "pet friendly" sandy beaches. It's technically not allowed but as long as you stay at the East end you won't get harassed by bylaw.
The sand isn't cleaned as well as it should be by the city. It's just another example how Vernon has basically ignored the lake that is right within city limits. It's so unfortunate because the beach could be a big economic driver for the city. Unfortunately there is only enough foresight and will to put in a few small parks or access points with a picknick table or two. Oh well, better than nothing. At least they didn't sell off Kin Beach to private...

You can walk all the way to the buoy, and there are hundreds of geese at all times.
It's not safe here at night.
They have a gazebo with a bunch of tables inside which is perfect for kids birthday parties.
The playground has also been remodeled recently.
The water isn't very clean in contrast to other beaches (frequent swimmer's itch) but overall it's fine to swim.
