New Goose looks nice but different body shape. Highly visible when approaching from the West. Not maintained in winter, so watch out and stay to brick path (even when under water), as some snow drifts off to the sides are close to a meter deep, but level with the rest of the ground, such that when the snow is crusty on top, you can suddenly drop quite a bit and nearly lose a shoe. But it's a great Canadian icon, and a rite of passage when crossing the great lakes, and I'm proud to see them keep it in good shape. Not sure how costly it would be to keep it running in the winter. Interesting stories posted on pillars outside too, and a nice view or spot for a snack, if you have time and it's...

Worth 10 minutes to photo the goose and relax for a few minutes before continuing your journey. Wawa is a very impressive little town. We all know that Covid was hard on little towns with hotels and restaurants that suffered when things were shut down. Wawa‘s hotels appear to have come through the challenge and are doing strong. It might be the case that Wawa‘s restaurants are not fully back, But I would not bet against Wawa. In plain fact, this is a roadside goose. It is well worth your time to take a picture.. And please note that Wawa has three big geese. The main one at the entrance to town, and two others located a bit further up the road. Do yourself a favor, visit Wawa and take...

This Goose monument is beautiful to look at as it is so well made with detail! Also the best built one (2017)(steel) of the 3 geese built over the years. Looks beautiful! Standing at 28 feet tall with a wing span of 20 feet wide. Apparently, it's the 3rd goose monument that has been made for this location. I'm my opinion the best. I've been told you can see the other 2 as you drive thru town. The original one being currently located at the the local 'Young's General store' in Wawa. History reflects that the original goose monument was created in 1963 which could not stand the test of time as it was made of plaster. Facts state it is the most photographed monument in North America.

As a traveler, Canada does not have much to offer across its vast countryside highways generally, so when this little gem popped up, I always stop here. I love the nature of it, the fabulous log house facilities, the historic markers, good size lot, parking for bigger vehicles, great layout for getting in and out, greenspace and even picnic tables and a dogwalk area that is fenced. Lovely little stop. Unfortunately, there are no overnight stays. If you're stuck and too tired to keep going, you have to keep going. That is very unfortunate. It is so lovely there. Hence my 4 stars and not 5. They should give at least 8 or 10 hrs of staying time, esp. if arriving after 6 p.m.

Stayed at Whitefish Lodge & Outpost Camps. Excellent hosts..Coop & Phil. Their world is yours to explore. Fishing, blueberry picking to go into morning pancakes, watched a bear being dressed out (very interesting), next time I want to assist! On Lake Superior. Amazing sunrises. Comfortable beds. Loon calls brought back so many memories of Maine. You make your own memories, no TV!! Gift store. Very attentive to every detail. GO! Duane caught a trophy Bass and Pike! Joann got a baby one. Hunter's paradise too! Coop was the guide...Hunter's bagging bear every day.
