2023 adventures in beautiful British Columbia✨ This year was full of spontaneous adventures - exploring provincial and national parks, chasing waterfalls, conquering tough hikes, savoring long road trips, and dancing through flower fields. It’s not just about the places; these were the moments that stitched us together and painted our journey with shared emotions.🤍 Places highlighted in the reel: 📍Buntzen Lake 📍Macmillan Provincial Park 📍Quarry Rock 📍 @lakelandflowers 📍Stawamus Chief 📍Alta Lake 📍 @tuscanfarmgardens 📍Brandywine Falls Provincial Park 📍Abbotsford, BC 📍Yoho National Park 📍Golden, BC 📍Parkhurst 📍E.C. Beautiful lake. Originally named summit, Alta Lake was renamed to avoid confusion with the many other Summit Lakes in British Columbia. The name is derived from the Spanish  for "high up" or "upper". The lake's southern end is the divide between the basins of the green and Cheakamus river. Neighbourhoods around the lake include Alta lake, the original community in this area (now referred to as "Westside"), Alta Vista and Whistler Cay Estates. At the north end of the lake the original site of Rainbow Lodge preserves some cabins that were part of that rustic resort, and a municipally run ecological preserve which extends up the wetlands of the river of golden dreams (aka Alta Creek), which leads to green lake. A wayside park, formerly a provincial park and now municipally run is located near the south end of the lake.

I recently visited Alta Lake and had an amazing experience! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, with crystal-clear water surrounded by lush greenery and mountains. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing walk, a quiet picnic, or even just to sit and enjoy nature. The trails around the lake are well-maintained and easy to navigate. I also loved how peaceful and clean the area was — great for photography or just taking a break from city life. Whether you’re visiting Whistler or live nearby, I highly recommend stopping by Alta Lake. It’s definitely worth it!

Alta Lake is a very good picnic place in summer. We were here in June 2018. There were lot of families hanging out in the park. We saw people with kayaks, canoes and paddle boats in the lake. You can swim in the lake too. The water on the shore is shallow and so this seems to be a perfect place for kids to play in the water. There is good size parking lot and bathroom facilities. If you like hiking you can go on nice trails around the lake as well! And if you are into photography, or just enjoy being in the nature, the views around the lake are breathtaking! Very green mountains all around. In fact some gorgeous snow capped mountains, although far off, are visible even during summer. Very...
