In times of COVID every single precaution is necessary. So as we have been doing to at least enjoy a little bit of the summer. Always checking park rules, if something has changed or have been implemented. Assuring a very good time for me and my family. It wouldnât be different when we decided to go to Rainbow Park. Searched online, their website was saying âpropane barbecuing onlyâ and we said âok, weâre good to goâ. We set up our space, got a very nice table with the lake view. It was everything perfect until the by law stopped by to ask us to bring down our shelter. We had put up (as he said) a too big shelter and it was taking too much space. Yes, Iâm finĂŞs of social distancing he was asking me to reduce the space I was âtakingâ. I asked why and the reasons were: a) it was too big, b) the pins could damage the ground, c) the wind could flip our shelter, damage the ground and hit someone. Iâm gonna answer o e by one: a) our shelter is one of those Canadian Tire is always selling. A 10x10ft. We had to get that because of our baby. Itâs not that big, considering people were taking way more space than us, using chairs to keep other people in a safe distance. So no, using the size of our shelter does not justify asking us to bring it down. b) there was SO MANY tents there, all of which were using THE SAME METAL PIN we were using. So if their pins were allowed, ours were allowed too. c) thatâs correct, that couldâve really happened. But so did other tents around there today. Not only tents, but also floats, floating boats and all inflatables in the park.
Besides all of the nonsense arguments used, weâve been there a day before (without our shelter) and there was THREE SHELTERS as big as ours. FHE WHOLE AFTERNOON. If thereâs rules, they should be applied 24/7 or whenever the park is opened.
After they asked us to bring the shelter down, they never came back. We were lucky that after 12pm our table got on the shade. As there was NOBODY taking care of the park, people were DRINKING, SMOKING AND PUTTING UP TENTS as big as ours. NOBODY WENT THERE TO ASK THEM TO BRING THEM DOWN. N.O.B.O.D.Y.
A beautiful park, stunning views, but very bad administrators. The women working there were amazing. But the men... awful. When I asked a woman why there was nothing on the website she said âIâm sorry, Iâll check that with the park director. That should be there, for sureâ. When I asked a man, âbring it down, then you can check the website. If you donât bring it down, Iâll take it. And we are here for the whole day, donât put up againâ. Yeah, sure. Well done. People were drinking... And the law about drinking in park areas still...
