In times of COVID every single precaution is necessary. So as we have been doing to at least enjoy a little bit of the summer. Always checking park rules, if something has changed or have been implemented. Assuring a very good time for me and my family. It wouldn’t be different when we decided to go to Rainbow Park. Searched online, their website was saying “propane barbecuing only” and we said “ok, we’re good to go”. We set up our space, got a very nice table with the lake view. It was everything perfect until the by law stopped by to ask us to bring down our shelter. We had put up (as he said) a too big shelter and it was taking too much space. Yes, I’m finês of social distancing he was asking me to reduce the space I was “taking”. I asked why and the reasons were: a) it was too big, b) the pins could damage the ground, c) the wind could flip our shelter, damage the ground and hit someone. I’m gonna answer o e by one: a) our shelter is one of those Canadian Tire is always selling. A 10x10ft. We had to get that because of our baby. It’s not that big, considering people were taking way more space than us, using chairs to keep other people in a safe distance. So no, using the size of our shelter does not justify asking us to bring it down. b) there was SO MANY tents there, all of which were using THE SAME METAL PIN we were using. So if their pins were allowed, ours were allowed too. c) that’s correct, that could’ve really happened. But so did other tents around there today. Not only tents, but also floats, floating boats and all inflatables in the park.

Besides all of the nonsense arguments used, we’ve been there a day before (without our shelter) and there was THREE SHELTERS as big as ours. FHE WHOLE AFTERNOON. If there’s rules, they should be applied 24/7 or whenever the park is opened.

After they asked us to bring the shelter down, they never came back. We were lucky that after 12pm our table got on the shade. As there was NOBODY taking care of the park, people were DRINKING, SMOKING AND PUTTING UP TENTS as big as ours. NOBODY WENT THERE TO ASK THEM TO BRING THEM DOWN. N.O.B.O.D.Y.

A beautiful park, stunning views, but very bad administrators. The women working there were amazing. But the men... awful. When I asked a woman why there was nothing on the website she said “I’m sorry, I’ll check that with the park director. That should be there, for sure”. When I asked a man, “bring it down, then you can check the website. If you don’t bring it down, I’ll take it. And we are here for the whole day, don’t put up again”. Yeah, sure. Well done. People were drinking... And the law about drinking in park areas still...

Rainbow Park is a true jewel of Whistler, offering an unbeatable combination of natural beauty, relaxation, and recreational activities. Situated on the shores of Alta Lake, this park boasts stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Rainbow Mountain. The scenery alone is enough to make it worth the visit, but there’s so much more to love about this spot.

The park's sandy beach is perfect for lounging on a sunny day, and the crystal-clear waters of Alta Lake invite you to take a refreshing dip or enjoy a peaceful paddle. Whether you're into swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking, the lake offers endless opportunities for water fun. The grassy areas are spacious and well-maintained, making it ideal for picnics, sunbathing, or a friendly game of frisbee.

For those looking to explore, there are walking and biking trails that wind through the park and connect to the larger Whistler trail network. The park is family-friendly, with plenty of space for kids to run around, and it’s dog-friendly too, with a designated off-leash area.

What really sets Rainbow Park apart is its tranquil atmosphere. Even on busy days, there’s a sense of peacefulness here that allows you to unwind and soak in the natural surroundings. Whether you’re visiting for a quick afternoon escape or spending the whole day, Rainbow Park is the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, offering something for everyone. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to experience Whistler's outdoor beauty...

Very nice place to chill with family and friends in the summer. Usually very busy. Rainbow Park is fully accessible and well used by Whistler residents and visitors. Enjoy spectacular views of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, swim in the Alta Lake, relax on the grass lawn, visit the dog park, play beach volleyball, and more. Barking Bay, found at the south end of Rainbow Park, is a  popular off-leash dog area with a small grass area and swimming dock. Rainbow Park is accessible by car from Alta Lake Road, roughly fifteen minutes from the Village. It can also be accessed by biking or walking from the Valley Trail. A limited amount of parking is available. Rainbow Park is open from dawn until dusk daily. A food concession operates daily (weather permitting) from July 1 to the first Monday in September from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and and weekends from June to September.
