Dizzying heights, incredible views—a bucket list-worthy activity even if you’re afraid of heights. On our summer vacation to the Vancouver area, my wife and I decided to visit Whistler including the ascent to Whistler Peak from the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain. To get to the Peak, you must make a 20-minute hike from Roundhouse Lodge to the Peak Chair chairlift. TIP: this is a moderate hike in alpine climate, so bring good shoes, hat, clothing layers (even in the summer), and water. Right off the bat, I have to tell you I’m afraid of heights and my wife is not. The Peak Chair was frightening for me; I closed my eyes most of the lift up, open all the way on the lift down. My wife took GoPro videos of everything. The accent and decent are incredibly beautiful and thrilling—really a memorable event in itself. Once off the Peak Chair at the amazing Whistler Peak area, you’ll be greeted with wrap-around views of the top of the world—spectacular. The Whistler Mountain Peak Cloudraker Skybridge is to the right of the Peak Chair station. I did not cross the bridge, but my wife did; we took lots of GoPro video and pictures from off and from the side of the bridge. The glass and steel suspension bridge hangs over a drop off the peak with incredible views. The bridge sways a bit and was fairly crowed on our trip. TIP: since the various lifts have open/closing times, make sure you plan plenty of time for this activity: hike to and from the Peak Chair, ride up and down the Peak Chair, and crossing and returning over the bridge along with time to take pictures and enjoy the Whistler Peak views. Overall, a trip up to Whistler Peak and the Whistler Mountain Peak Cloudraker Skybridge is a must do on your visit to Whistler—even if you’re afraid of heights, do as much as you can and enjoy the spectacular views....

At the top, you’ll find the Inukshuk statue (perfect photo spot) and jaw-dropping panoramic views of Black Tusk, Garibaldi Provincial Park, and endless peaks.
🌟 Highlights at the Top
360° alpine views — on a clear day, you can see all the way to the Coast Mountains and beyond.
Peak Suspension Bridge: A short walk from the lift, it stretches across Whistler Bowl with epic views and that thrilling “floating in the sky” feeling.
Hiking Trails: Options range from easy strolls to more challenging alpine hikes. Even the short Peak Express Traverse offers incredible.
The Peak Chair is weather-dependent — if it’s too windy or stormy, it won’t run.
It can feel chilly at the summit even in summer, so layers are a must.
If you’re not a fan of heights, just know it’s an open chairlift — thrilling, but it can feel exposed.
In short: the Peak Chair is Whistler’s “must-do” alpine experience. It’s not just a ride; it’s like being dropped into the middle...
