Great place to visit..tons of activities..biking hiking horseback riding walking doggies..met a wonderful lady named Liz on a white horse gave us a history of the land and a couple of booklets about york region forest. Amazing person..her companions were well behaved ladies. You can literally get lost in here but its ok so much green to see and enjoy lots of happy trees.the layout of trails are loops so you wont though...my wife and baby and I were out there for 3 hours just feeling blessed. Paths are a mixture of sand gravel and dirt so becareful of your footing..if you have a baby stroller make sure it is able to handle sandy spots. Also because of the horses there is plenty of hoof prints in path so it will be bumpy ride for baba..came across 4 other parents who had little ones in baby strap..we put her in strap for last portion of walk..come see this place for yourself you will be glad you did..road sign is kind of hidden so as you go north on 48 its just past St john sideroad about 200 metres on your left..also there is another entrance on mccowan road that you cant miss it is right where mccowan ends and faulkner begins at the turn in the road.there is a shoulder area where roughly 7 cars can fit.dont speed in there is plenty of low pot holes that will mess you up if you speed. Also park can be busy so respect other traffic around blind corners..parking is free and lot can take 30 cars..check out york region forest many...

The Eldred KIng Woodlands is part of the York Region Forest Tract. Spanning from Hwy 48 to McCowan Rd. It is located just North of Hall Tract. Inside the Tract you will find many kilometres of trails, a pond and plenty of shade for the warmer weather. Great for many outdoor activities such as hiking, photography, dogwalking and horseback riding. It is vast enough that you will find some privacy but at the same time it is quickly becoming a very popular attraction. In the spring be careful as it can be muddy on some of the trails. In summer some days can bring the usual pests like mosquitos and ticks. Our favourite time to visit the Tract is in the fall when the leaves are changing yet still warm enough during the day. It's also a great place for nature photography. Many travel to the area for winter hiking and snowshoeing. Great for families, joggers, dog walkers and people...
