Really good spot to stop and see some things on a road trip!
This is mostly local history and the same sorts of things that you'd see in many small town museums like the "pioneer" home antiques and such but it's additional areas that make this a nice museum.
They had one room dedicated to the "Jolly Giant" that was the initial draw for us. A bit of a tragic story but really pretty neat to see and read about. The first nations room with history on Sitting Bull as well as the video presentation was really awesome! They had a tipi setup with some very well furnished first nations items. Read moreA local museum holding extensive archives and history of Willow Bunch. We were greeted by Linda and she showed us around right away, knowing we were from Ottawa. Linda knows everything about the Giant and will tell you all about his legacy and history. There are other rooms where we can explore ancestral documents, antique tools and clothing. There are also documents about the Campagne family, now renowned as the biggest musical family from Willow Bunch. It is not a big museum that takes hours to visit; we did not even spend an hour inside, and admission tickets were below $10. Read moreThis museum is in an old convent which is very neat as we don't have many left in this province. The displays are well done, it's very clean and the staff.... wow! The staff is amazzzinggg. The women working there during our visit this past summer were so friendly offering to answer questions, taking pictures of our family and they kept the kids going on a variety of scavenger hunts.
