This was my first visit to King's Parkvin over 15 years. I went with a friend and fellow photography enthusiast to take photos of this beautiful park. The constant wind kept the grasses and bullrushes miving and creating a rhythmical sound, as background to my photos. I recorded several videos which feature these wondrrful sights and sounds. There were paths to follow, benches to sit on, bridges to cross and beautiful flowers everywhere. The gorgeous, bright red pagoda sits magestically at the top of a " prairie hill", man-made, of course. It is both photogenic itself, from near and from afar and a great sight for taking photos from, over the lakes and the grasses etc. All in all, King's Park was everything I remembered. The old red wooden bridges have been relocated to another park, and the modern, metal and wood bridges are as fun to walk over as their predecessors. There is an off-leash dog park at one end of King's Park, as well. There were cyclists and walkers, but not too many on an overcast...
Read moreWe love this park. It's meticulously kept with stunning flowers. Miles (?) of trails, photo ops galore and constant improvements. We've lived in the area 3 years and they have redone the park nearly top to bottom it seems with new bridges, tons of new benches and a stunning new waterfall feature. Amazing off-leash dog park, endless trails, many open areas for sports, including a baseball diamond and soccer goal posts, bridges over large ponds. And it has bathrooms. I wish it had bathrooms more central in the park. They are near the entrance and a VERY long jaunt if you are at the wrong end.
At the far far end there are several (what seem like) purpose-built photo spots. Though they are nice, most are quite run down. Maybe they're next on the reno list. But so much natural beauty and other spots for photos.
I've often wished they had a playground but I suspect there is a reason they haven't built one. Nonetheless, my young children love walking...
Read moreThe way finding system is terrible. I was trying to find the off leash dog park, and Google maps puts it in one part. Last time we went there and there weren’t any signs so we just wonder around and they had fun doing sprints. This time, we find a sign that is in a completely different area than the off leash on the Google. There are no fences or anything just one sign that says off leash area but gives no actual boundaries. I talked to one person and they said it stops at the bridge and if you go off leash past that point, they will give out fines, which is crazy because I didn’t see a sign that said no dogs off leash past this point. There were also no signs on any of the other areas going in or out of the off leash area. The actual park part was nice, there weren’t too many dogs, but there was a wide area. Just a terrible way...
