Lookout Hills – Gros Morne’s Golden Hour Gem Hiking Lookout Hills at golden hour was nothing short of unforgettable. Google estimated the climb at 45 minutes, but as an experienced hiker (and an even more dedicated photographer), it took me about an hour and twenty—with plenty of stops to capture the jaw-dropping scenery. The views from the top were spectacular: the dramatic fjords felt like another planet, and the charming coastal village below was pure magic when bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
The trail itself is very well maintained, with brand-new-looking plaques that share fascinating and relevant information along the way. I was even treated to sightings of some of the most adorable wildlife I’ve ever seen. This entire experience is etched into my memory as one of those rare “core moments” you carry forever. Read moreThe trail was recently upgraded, so for comfort on the relatively short hike I went in my well-worn-tread running shoes with no issues whatsoever. No fancy footwear needed. It rained that morning and the gravel trail was relatively dry by the afternoon. A couple puddles to step over. Lovely chairs and benches at the windy top to enjoy the view and chat with people. Read moreThere is a beautiful view from the chairs on top of the lookout trail. The hike is difficult in places due to the elevation and rocky terrain. There is nothing of interest to see as you hike which is a good thing because you need to watch your footing. If you go be sure to take a jacket for when you get on the top, it is windy!
