Lookout Hills – Gros Morne’s Golden Hour Gem Hiking Lookout Hills at golden hour was nothing short of unforgettable. Google estimated the climb at 45 minutes, but as an experienced hiker (and an even more dedicated photographer), it took me about an hour and twenty—with plenty of stops to capture the jaw-dropping scenery. The views from the top were spectacular: the dramatic fjords felt like another planet, and the charming coastal village below was pure magic when bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.

The trail itself is very well maintained, with brand-new-looking plaques that share fascinating and relevant information along the way. I was even treated to sightings of some of the most adorable wildlife I’ve ever seen. This entire experience is etched into my memory as one of those rare “core moments” you carry forever. If you’re visiting Gros Morne, this is an...

The trail was recently upgraded, so for comfort on the relatively short hike I went in my well-worn-tread running shoes with no issues whatsoever. No fancy footwear needed. It rained that morning and the gravel trail was relatively dry by the afternoon. A couple puddles to step over. Lovely chairs and benches at the windy top to enjoy the view and chat with people. Stunning reds and yellows in the trees the last bit of September. If you think you may need them…bring poles! Worth it to do the loop at the top...

There is a beautiful view from the chairs on top of the lookout trail. The hike is difficult in places due to the elevation and rocky terrain. There is nothing of interest to see as you hike which is a good thing because you need to watch your footing. If you go be sure to take a jacket for when you get on the top, it is windy! It is a hike that I'm glad to have done but do not plan to do again when there are so many more interesting trails. The view is beautiful almost...

Trail entrance located in corner of parking lot, had a very steady climb for about 35 mins, terrain not too rough but did have to make a few stops to catch my breath, slightly windy on top, took about 70 mins to apex, spectacular views on the walk and especially at the top, has a path to do loop around the top but we declined, walking back down is easier on the lungs but hard on the knees/feet, well worth the hike for sure. Make sure you poop/pee before starting the hike!

Hidden Gem in Good Ole Bonne Bay! - Best views from Bottom to Top - 2.5km distance to the top. 75% uphill trek, 25% flat & boarded walkway. - Hiking shoes with in-depth tread in a mandatory - The view at the top is worth the trek! 2 red chairs at the top can be seen once starting the boarded walk. This is your indicator you’re close to the top! *Please do not litter, and respect the nature and wildlife by not stepping outside the path and not disturbing animals if seen*
