This facility claims in other reviews they rely on locals, but even if that is the case, it seems they do not care to follow up to help improve future experiences.
I was bringing a guest, and was on a second visit in 2 weeks. I was provided incorrect information by their staff initially and this resulted in a very poor follow up experience this time. The staff I spoke to this time, had no decision making ability to correct the issue I had as a result of the misinformation. Upon asking to speak to management I was declined, even though they were around the corner. After some unproductive discussion with the staff member it was offered that manager would call me, so I left my contact information. It has been a few days, and I have received no such call. I don’t believe this facility has your customer service at heart, nor interest in hearing out locals who are actively bringing visitors, which is a shame. Tourists off busses are of course easier to serve as they won’t be back as quickly, happily pay exorbitant prices, and are less likely to complain if something is missing (usually because they won’t know if they’re missing it) - given this lack of care, it really feels like tourists are the actual focus for this business.
While there on last weeks visit, in addition to the unresolved customer service issue mentioned above, there were no cups to be able to get water (and personal water bottles are not allowed). I then had a frigid indoor walk to the second water station (as the doors were not closing properly and cold rainy air was blowing in strongly all the way down the hall). At the second station I found just 2 cups available. This was with an hour and a half to close. This is also problematic for those who don’t know there is even a second water station. This experience was then followed by not having any soap dispenser in the washroom - I could not even try to properly wash my hands. This was one of their prime slots, it was $55 a person. The staff at the desk said it had been slow that day when we asked upon entry - as we were curious how the rain affected business. If you go, even when it’s slow, and spend a fortune, just know that you only get access to the outdoor pools, the indoor heated loungers, 1 tepid steam room (since 1 was out of order and it felt like the other was not up to the job either), 2 different temperature saunas and a locker+key. What you don’t get is any spare towels included, you don’t get a locker number system that makes any logical sense, nor do you get staff who are knowledgeable or are empowered when management is unavailable. Staff are also not on the ball with basic facility upkeep such as restocking cups and providing soap, even when the facility is apparently slow. And management does not take time to follow up with concerns.
Ultimately, I don’t think this was a good showcase of the effort put into building this facility. The experience is not in keeping with the standard they’re attempting to set at this price point, nor does it match similar facilities across the country. I’m all for being patient with local business growing pains but unfortunately, even after being open a while, I don’t think it is something I’d be proud to recommend or bring visitors to. While I had a decent experience 2 weeks prior, I admittedly had minimal interaction with staff. And come to find that the staff I did speak to 2 weeks ago were not providing me with accurate information. To me, customer service is rather an important element to the experience, and especially relevant once you go multiple times, regardless of how good the pools look.
TL;DR: same water, new look, but don’t let the high prices raise your expectations beyond those of the old facilities that were...
Read moreLike many, I’m disappointed by the hike in prices. I’ve paid the same price and less for spas down south and in other countries that have 3 times the facilities. I find the prices especially high considering all of the ongoing construction happening on and around the hot springs. A few other big differences from other spas I’ve visited that make it not worth the price point are a lack of comfortable outdoor seating such as cushioned sun beds and hammocks, a lack of a constant fire going to sit around, no natural cold plunge like the river in Mont Tremblant for example, a lack of relaxing spa music throughout the facility is a big one that I’ve never not heard at a hot/cold spa, and the biggest difference from every other Nordic style spa I’ve visited in this country and others: a lack of quiet. The guests are pretty rowdy a lot of the time. Shouting down the halls to one another, talking loudly in groups. Every other spa I’ve been too over many years of frequenting them has had attendants who remind people to be quiet. This does not happen at Eclipse. I mean hey, if you just want to have a hot springs for people to hang out in that’s great too, but don’t call it a Nordic spa. This is a common characteristic of all spas of this style that is expected when one visits one. They are tranquil retreat centres in which quiet is absolutely enforced. Eclipse is a nice little facility that I’ve enjoyed visits too when I’ve been lucky enough to get in there when hardly anyone is there, but it sounds like a party a lot of the time. I think it’s a lovely facility for $25. At $45 it was rather steep for the small size of it . At $60-70 it just doesn’t offer what that price point implies, and they are losing a lot of local business. And just aren’t comparing with other facilities for that asking price. My advice would be, at the very least, to offer special rates to locals. You could have twice the business if you made it affordable and worth it for people to go regularly. Some things I really like about Eclipse are the steam sauna and the local soap/shampoo in...
Read moreWhat a wonderful hot spring spa experience! I rate this 5 stars! I had no idea the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs was this amazing! So many pool options and quiet rules makes it an experience of a lifetime! So zen! Campground facilities… lovely! It is set up with easy pull thrus, back ins and tent sites. Porta loos set within walking distance. Not a 5star when it comes to actual camping… we had to sign papers understanding the quiet time rules and also destruction of property. We are in a zen area linked to the hot springs..our experience took a major turn for the worse. At around 5pm we notified the office that the 3 guys next to us were pre partying…at 7:20… we notified again…. At 8:20 we asked Shabek (the male manager) if he could ask them to quiet down…he offered us “to move to a different site”!! We had been set up a few hours before the “3 guys in 3 tents” next to us and gave pre warning that things were escalating. At 12:30AM we were still awake listening to shouting, yelling, laughing (they were now tickling each other), smashing beer cans(throwing them into a box), ripping down tree limbs, cursing constantly and now the name Jordan being said over and over. Truck horn beeping constantly with the key fab and then 1 of the immature men- I mean boy vomiting and screaming he had to “piss”! I sent a text to the office phone at 1:38am. Nothing.!! No response!! 11pm is when quiet hours was suppose to begin. Obviously, management doesn’t care about the visiting paying campground customers who have come to enjoy the hot springs and zen like area. Fully disappointed! Do not stay here if you want a nice quiet atmosphere. To the “immature tickling drunk boys who destroyed the trees and vomited & pissed themselves “…stay home! I do thank Michelle (professional and friendly) attendant who was on duty at 8am the following morning who did care about our experience and refunded our money. A refund over experience still isn’t worth the visit. The male manager/employee caused huge disappointment and experience for us. Along with Jordan...
