So BEAUTIFUL. It's a tourist destination for hiking. (My kind of hiking. .. walkkng up a cobbled road with incredible vistas of the valley and tiny villages, just groups of a few humble homes). The town of Pombas is where you want to stay if you'd like to be in a little town right on the water, with a few restaurants and a few guest houses.

The most amazing valley for hiking. Start at the top - Cova Crater and go down until the ocean or get a Alegeur somewhere on the way if you feel too tired to go all the way.

We dachten een route van 1,5 uur te doen, maar waren verdwaald waardoor het alsnog een wandeling van 4u werd. Hierdoor zijn we wel een man tegengekomen die een stuk land had en daarop zijn eigen koffiebonen droogde en vermaalde tot koffie. Hij heeft ons zijn werkruimte laten zien en is een heel stuk met ons meegelopen en heeft ons veel verteld. Het was daardoor ondanks het een flinke klim tocht was wel erg leuk.

Better than in the pictures! You can get lost several times but will always find your way, a glass of fresh juice, bananas, guavas, coffee, and the smile of a kind local or the purring...

Sicher einer der schönsten Plätze der Insel. Es ist grün und überall zwitschern die Vögel. Ein Raubvogel kreist über unseren Kopfen. Wenn man etwas genauer schaut flattern riesige Schmetterlinge von Blüte zu Blüte. Hier fließt der Reichtum der Insel - Wasser. Es blüht und gedeiht. Bis in schwindelnde Höhen leuchten die Blüten des Zuckerrohrs. Daneben Bananen, Papaya, Gemüse und viele wilde Gewächse. Wenn man in die Ruhe des Tals eintaucht, eröffnen sich interessante Einblicke ins Leben der Bewohner, wobei hier der Tourismus angekommen...
