Tour opens in the gift shop. There's many birds main attraction are parrots n macaws, there is a white bird that laughs along with you and tgeres a macaws that can talk. Watch for the long beaked bird, i think its an australian bird. They do bite so dont put your fingers for them.
The gift shop itself a old cabin. Look for the heater thats so old, but very effective. It has a hot sign 🔥, dont touch again. Touching things are available later in the trip.
Look for souvenir like magnets etc
First you enter with welcoming peacocks then, you can see the roosters after which you visit lemar then watch for long tailed lemurs.
Its funny that in lemur kingdom the dominant female controls the gang. They are fed with bananas 🍌 and the peel is given to the two cute 🐐 goats. Goats do have horns and can pinch you!!! Just kidding. They are the recycle goats. They eat the peel happily.
While the peacock pete may be watching you from up above, the interesting thing people miss is the beautiful old growth trees 🌳 . Dont miss how big and how deep the roots are. The root should explain the intensity of these old forests.
Remember many places are muddy. Recommend wearing a shoe you dont mind. You do see a bunch of roosters 🐓 as you enter.
I counted like 10 roosters 🐓 🤣 , they all sit at top of the nearby trees and keep roosting , i think thats what their sound is called but they do sound like crying in anger.
We went in fall autumn season, its so pretty and beautiful. Its also very cold. There were only one more couple 💑. So much less crowd
The tour is like 12, 2, 4pm. We went last one 4. Animals are very hungry, some are tired. Not sure which time is the best. Its exit 208 in i5 and you go towards darrington. Oso mudslide memorial highway 🛣, remember those who lost during mudslide and enjoy the mountains. There is no shops other than a gas station and couple of expresso stands on this way. But my friend says this first expresso stand is so nice.
There is lot of farm on way to buy fresh produce and then you see signs for brown eggs. There is also a starwberry u pick on the way. There are new lighted led billboards, i mean seriously!!!
There is also some sign that states to deny permits for this billboards, how did they even allow these bill boards????
Keep 530 scenic road please
The entrance is marked with bright yellow arrow and the road entrance is very pretty. The road is 55mph and entrance comes out of nowhere , be careful when you enter.
There is limited parking and restroom is honey bucket ,not the best
As you enter there are some picnic benches take time to enjoy for five to ten minutes. There is also two head open spots to put your face and take a picture 📸 as like kangaroos. Who doesnt want to be a kangaroo
You get a free pocket in your own body.(if you become kangaroo)
As you enter , you will first see the lamas, and alpacas, the only difference is one is 6 yrs old other is older like 12? Not sure.
They dont like you touching their bottoms and if you do they definitely spit on you. Which will be so bad being spit by alpacas or lamas one of them not sure which.
They eat beans frozen type from ur hand. They dont bite but they lick if you dont mind licking. Some go to an extent to use lips to deliver the beans. You keep in ur mouth and they kiss you to pick it up. I did try that last time but with covid not sure....
Then you see an luxury human bred short horse that bites and kicks. You also hear donkeys screaming. There are some big 🐎 horses. Cross that you see dinasours just kidding their descendants emu that runs 30 mph, i can run barely 3mph. Their advaced type ostriches can do 50mph.
We get to feed one of them which is calledmiss gentle. Watch for their legs they look like jurassic park movie
They try to hide their heads inside feathers which is cute.
The alpacas fur is so thick its like a built in rei jacket on demand, even after rain inside is so...
Read moreThis was my third time over 10 yrs I’ve been to this place and not once have the disappointed. Not gonna lie it seems a bit expensive but once you’re there and do the tours it’s completely worth and makes sense with all they do year round during times they probably don’t get a lot of visitors. Every person that works there from the first women that sold us tickets and taught us about the birds in the gift shop (was great with the kiddos), to the women who did the first half of the tour and then passed us to her dad for the last half, we’re all amazing! They provided the perfect amount of fun, knowledge on the animals and hands on experience while being completely understanding to our young kiddos who need many reminders to be calm around the animals when they’re so excited! I highly recommend this place. It cost us about a $100 including 4 people and souvenirs for each kid. We there about 2.5 hours and it was awesome! Well worth the fun! Very unique great experience and worth every penny! Thank you to all of you for all that you do!
Side not I have also taken a group of 20 5 yr olds on a field trip here 7 yrs ago and it was awesome then too!
Thanks again!!! You can tell these animals are very happy and well taken care of! I highly support this place and recommend it for everyone just remember to respect the animals as this is their home!
❤️❤️❤️
Edit: after going to the cougar mt zoo I wanted to add to this review, cougar mt seemed like it’d be a better time, more expensive and has tigers and more variety of animals HOWEVER we still hands down had so much more fun at the kangaroo farm! It’s completely different and you get less muddy but the experience is so so so much better! I already loved this place but after going to another zoo down south we love y’all even more and your animals seem so much happier. Additionally way more interactive and Great staff here! Well he...
Read moreSince my only experience with marsupials here on the North American continent are possums seen dead on the side of the road I decided to visit the Kangaroo Farm just east of Arlington, WA. I made the drive from Snohomish on a sunny July day. I read up on kangaroo biology before going up there. Our guides didn't go into much detail about the animals. One of the 'roos is with joey, but the joey is not ready to emerge from the pouch. The animals which not only include two different species of kangaroo, you can also enjoy watching a large enclosure of lemurs - like a roomful of ADHD children, a sweet alpaca, friendly goats, and some Patagonian Cavies - giant guinea pig like critters. The tour was okay, but getting up close and personal with a 'roo was worth the drive and admission ($9.00). What would be nice would be a tour with a more grown up focus; a tour that goes into detail of the 'roo's lifecycle and other more scientific details. But when your tour's audience is mostly pre-schoolers and grade schoolers you can't say much more than tell the kids to not run and make noise. If you've got young kids or grand kids this is a MUST SEE trip for your family to make. If you're beyond school age and have the time go back in the fall when the really young kids are back in school. I plan on doing just that...
