Playa Algarrobo Norte — Attraction in Algarrobo

Sitting on the sand, listening to the surf, and watching the sunset here is one of the most spiritual encounters on earth.

It is simply sublime, to the nth degree.

The sun sets, late summer, between 7.15 pm and 8.30 pm.

The sky is flame orange, most clear days, and the surf is always up. It crashes to anywhere between 3' - 12' in height.

Do NOT be tempted to swim, paddle or surf here. The back draw of the sea can easily knock you off your feet and you will be swept out to sea. It is very, very strong when it hit you behind the knees as the waves draw back out to sea.

The beach is pure golden sand. It is lovely to walk on, and very romantic.

Couples do stay beyond sunset for amorous reasons, that is clear, and perhaps understandable.

For photography there is little better anywhere than what is on offer here. But, use a tripod and get your ND filters out to take our some of the white blast.

Use high speed repeat to get the just so shots of the breaking surf.

Try and get there as the tide comes in and high tide is a great combination with the sunset as the beach slopes upwards to create the breaking waves.

Take a jumper or coat, even in the summer, as it can feel a bit chilly.

Just sit, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and listen. Then open your eyes and watch. Zoning out and experiencing the beauty and power of nature is easy...

Playa Algarrobo Norte es un destino costero interesante dentro de Algarrobo, ideal para disfrutar en familia, con amigos, o solo. Su extensa orilla de arena clara invita a largas caminatas en total paz y juegos para los más jovenes. El mar, con sus olas ruidosas en esta zona, no resulta seguro para nadar y y menos para practicar algunos deportes acuáticos, siendo considerado peligro. Sí sirve para pescar, concurriéndo ocasionalmente algunos pescadores con caña de pescar. El paseo costero es apto para toda la familia, al estar pavimentado y tener asientos, perfecto para disfrutar de las vistas panorámicas y un hermoso atardecer. No suele llenarse como otras playas más populares y en todo caso hay espacio de sobra. La oferta de restaurantes y cafeterías cercanos es limitada pero son de buena calidad, con opciones para tanto desayunar, almorzar, "tomar once" y cenar. Existen numerosos quioscos para comprar snacks y otras baratijas. Notamos que la playa, bastante amplia, se mantenía relativamente limpia y la presencia de salvavidas (en temporada alta al menos) brindaba una sensación de seguridad adicional. Se puede estacionar en la calle, donde a veces hay cuidadores. Suele ser fácil encontrar estacionamiento pero en temporada alta quizá tengas que recorrer un poco para encontrar uno. Al anocherser se vuelve un tanto oscuro pero hay algo de luminaria pública. Sin duda, Algarrobo Norte es una excelente opción para una escapada de fin de semana o para pasar las vacaciones disfrutando del mar y la arena en un ambiente...

El acceso a la playa es bastante sencillo. En esta playa no se generan grandes aglomeraciones (especialmente en las partes más alejadas), pues se trata de una playa muy grande y que además no es apta para el baño. La arena es fina, por lo que no hay problemas para andar descalzo. Si bien es posible encontrarse ocasionalmente con basura tirada, se trata de una playa más bien limpia, por lo que invito a los futuros visitantes a que intenten que se mantenga de esa forma. Debido a lo larga que es, es ideal para caminar junto a la playa, y si llegase a darte hambre puedes encontrar un restaurante al lado (aunque es caro) y de vez en cuando algunos vendedores ambulantes.
