Easy 8km round trip hike to the Laguna Verde through deciduous pine forest and meadows. Path is very even, well maintained, easy to follow and has a steady mild grade except for a short climb near the viewpoint and so is suitable for all ages. Witches Hut was closed when we visited. Lake itself is very pretty and there are picnic tables in small huts and clean bathrooms. The Mirador has a couple of benches to relax and stare at the lake. There is a lot of maintenance work being done in the park, so the park drive was closed to us, but we did see buses using part of it. Keep your eyes and ears open to spot the local flora and fauna. Online reservations were required, but you pay by card only at the entrance. The drive from 240 is a few kms up a very steep, very...

For a park so close to the city it's very good, and it's well worth arriving before 10am so you can climb the mountain, the views were stunning although it was rather a tough climb and took me about 6 hours there and back. I didn't see any humans for the whole 6 hours and i had the whole place to myself. If you climb the actual peak which is just off the trail (which circles the peak), it's better to ascend and descend from the west, as the east...
