The Tarapacá Giant was built by ancient people in the exact location where the highest documented dust devil formation rates are in the world. The Huara–Cerro Unita zone sees 30–40 dust devils per square kilometer per day.    Ancient peoples throughout the world have associated dirt devils with living spirits...  While I do not know the intent of the ancient people who built this geoglyph, the potential spiritual significance of dust devils in relation to the Tarapacá Giant geoglyph doesn't feel like a coincidence. So when you visit, please take a moment to reflect on why they took all that effort to put the worlds largest representation of a diety on that particular hill surrounded by non-stop dust devils....  It's simply amazing.

The Atacama Giant offers a unique and free-to-access experience. Located about an hour’s drive from Iquique, it’s essential to have a rental car as a taxi ride could cost around 40 euros. Finding the giant might take a bit of searching, but the effort is rewarded. Situated in the middle of nowhere, amidst the scorching desert, it’s crucial to be well-prepared for the journey. The remote location adds to the adventure, making it a fantastic and unforgettable experience.

Never visited this place, I found it on Google map, my perspective-

I believe that this site represents a symbolic language — not meant for humans on the ground, but rather for beings or observers from above. These geometric patterns, visible only from high altitudes or possibly through powerful telescopes from spacecraft or other planets, seem like a stamp or seal indicating the presence of intelligent life on Earth.

One line extending from what looks like a hand is likely not a mechanical device but a directional arrow — pointing toward other symbolic shapes a few hundred meters away. Among those are two clear circles, which to me, represent two primary categories of living beings here: male and female.

The rest of the lines and formations may depict how the most powerful species on this planet — humans — live, behave, and structure their lives. This could be a cosmic marker for any advanced species passing by, showing who we are, where we are, and what defines our civilization.

✨ This might not just be a land-art or ancient drawing — it could be a silent message sent upward, like a...

ILLUSTRATED ON A CHILEAN HILLSIDE known as Cerro Unitas and surrounded by thousands of smaller geoglyphs, the Atacama Giant, a massive image of a deity used to calculate the movements of the moon, stands as one of the largest geoglyphs ever discovered.

Likely created sometime between 1000 and 1400 CE by a successive series of indigenous cultures including the Inca, the massive figure rests among about 5,000 smaller images of birds, mystical designs, and other images that have been etched on the ground. The images were created by either digging out the lines of the design from the soil, or by placing patterns of stones and sand on top of it, and sometimes a mixture of the...
