Bioparque Puquén — Attraction in La Ligua

Beautiful place to spend a few hours. A main attraction is a blow hole that reportedly creates a 45’ geyser if the north wind is right (it wasn’t during our visit) but the park is well worth seeing for its other features. We spotted a sizable colony of sea lions on the rocks of an adjacent island; large fields of cacti; and numerous stretches of rough coastline along which the breaking waves were mesmerizing. Beautiful park, lots of flowers in November. One of the most beautiful places we went to in Chile. Easy hike (about 30 min) to a vista point where you can see seabirds and sealions on a rock, with a "blowhole" where ocean water periodically spouts out, making a low humming sound, sort of like a geyser. Una maravilla e impresionante. El Sitio Prioritario (urgencia 1) Los Molles-Pichidangui, donde se encuentra el Puquén, un conjunto de "chimeneas de agua" que se activan de acuerdo al ángulo y energía del oleaje. Se pueden apreciar, en magnitud y activas (no sólo la pequeña) es realmente espectacular. Mucho cuidado. Mucho más increíble aún, es que en el tramo Los Molles-Pichidangui, se pueden encontrar muchas especies endémicas de Chile y otras sólo del ahí (microendémicas del borde costero) tal como la cactácea Neoporteria chilensis o llamada Chilenito. Además de especies como el lúcumo chileno (Pouteria splendens), cuya mayor población está en dicho Sitio Prioritario al igual que la abeja, también endémica del borde costero de Chile, Caupolicana fulvicollis, entre otras especies. Espero que se pueda proteger y hacer un Santuario de la Naturaleza o Parque Nacional, mejor aún, y no se siga construyendo o destruyendo.
