Pueblito de Los Dominicos (Los Dominicos Village) is a tourist craft market that has lost some of its original authentic traditional pastoral feel and well priced Chilean arts and crafts.
While the selection of arts and crafts is still varied (featuring over 200 shops) and includes basic to high end leather work, wood craft, sculptures, paintings, copper cookware, fine jewellery, pets, flowers, medicinal herbs and Chilean plants it is on the expensive side. Better priced arts and crafts can be found in Barrio Bellavista.
Originally part of a large farm land adjacent to San Vicente Ferrer church, in the 80s artists and artisans took over the farm’s old cellars and stables in the eastern part of the park and built more small shops, using traditional, colonial-style adobe. The shops exteriors have now been modernized and restaurants have been installed.
The sorroundings have lost some of its original charm due to the development around the area. Los Dominicos Metro station, constructed in January 2010, completed an extension of the Metro Line 1, provides direct access to Pueblito de Los Dominicos. Keep in mind it is closed in Mondays, open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.30 to 20.00.
While Pueblito de Los Dominicos is no longer an authentic crafts market with well priced items, it is highly recommended for families as it features a few bird enclosures and stores, providing kids open...

The Pueblito Los Dominicos is a really nice public park and nice area if you want to buy handcrafts from Chile. They have really beautiful hand made pieces and textiles, some restaurants and coffee places where you can spend at least half day there. The place has an easy access by metro where you can get out in the metro station “Los Dominicos” and from there it’s less than 10 minutes walking distance. You will find really nice crafts to buy but make sure you get some cash with you because usually most of the little stores don’t accept credit card and we ended up not buying something we really wanted to buy because of that. They have a ATM machine around but we didn’t trust it. Anyway, even if you are not planning to buy anything, it’s still a nice touristic place to visit, with a traditional “Village” architecture and good empanadas.

Read moreI visited on a Thursday afternoon. There were other visitors but overall comfortably quiet. I can see this place bustling on the weekends! Walking in, you pass an active theater. Then flats of herbs for sale along with other house and garden plants. Then artisans everywhere! Shop after shop of lovely hand made items from clothing (panchos, shoes, hats) to jewelry including many copper, lapis and silver. Beautiful one of a kind bracelets, necklaces, earrings... If I win the lotería this is the first place I will visit! There are also cafés (two or three) with indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for sitting in the shade to throw back a beer or sip coffee. I had an order of empinadas (3) and they easily fed two adults. The art gallery is worth a walk - thru. Don't miss the enormous bonsai garden in the back. You will find a unique and beautiful...
