The Salto Grande waterfall is located between lake Nordenskjöld and lake Skottsberg, in fact it is the communication point of both lakes. The two lakes have the Emerald color look. Lake Nordenskjöld has strong winds crossing by, and the waterfall receives this wind blowing the mist all around, making it difficult to take pictures without ruining your camera. It is an interesting visit, but not my first option to visit.

Very windy but manageable short walk from the car park. Some interesting signage explaining the formation of the falls and even explaining the wind! Only 10 minutes from the car park. There is an extension to the walk to go further on a 5-6km return hike to see some more scenery. The huge snow capped mountain even triggers small avalanches every few minutes on hot days this time of the year.

The waterfall is magnificent. There is a parking lot nearby, but you can also reach it if you’re traveling by bus. It is one of the most beautiful spots in the park. You can also start a hike from here, which I would totally recommend. Be careful though, the winds can be brutally fast here!
